Solo endgame -- what to expect?

You can pretty much solo every content, including maps.

It all depend on your build, some of the maps bosses are stupidly hard (Orchard for example) while other are stupidly easy (Tropical Island), I made up to lvl 75 in a week, I'm able to farm Piety merciless without dying and I can pretty much solo any maps, all these playing solo.

Of course it took me several characters to achieve one that is powerful enough to grind easily, you should not expect that you will faceroll the content with your first self found char.
I believe it is possible to sustain a map pool with level 66~71 maps, specially with the recent changes to the maps size.

I play mostly solo, and I have a pretty decent pool with maps 70~72, with a few 73 and 74.

You kill the same shit over and over till you either get better gear drops or earn enough currency trade for the better gear. This allows you to run slightly harder content and the process continues forever.

What did you fucking expect?
welcome to arpg.

docks gives nearly max exp until 70 so youre not really at a wall yet.
even measly level 70 maps provide 90% till level 80.

Check out my LA build: 1782214
Play solo 99% of the time, running as low level maps as I can and still get 80-100% xp, not getting killed is important as you lose a lot of time...
Went D1 -> D2 -> D3 -> PoE. Natural progression...

Except if that first self found character is a summoner witch ;)

To OP.

End game is completely viable solo and self found only, but only with the right builds.
3.3 RF Trickster SSF HC guide :

I will summarize my opinion in the 5 following points:

1 - I play Hardcore, so i never feel bored fighting for my life and the game is always challenging. Despite it is hard when you lose character especially after you obtained some new gear.

2 - I play mostly solo, but it is not a problem to find some people to do maps with. I find the overall player base in POE really friendly (maybe not in standard?)

3 - I enjoy dropping a nice item as an upgrade or as a good supply of currency for the next craft or trade.

4 - I like doing research on builds and items, therefore i find something new for me every moment of the game and i enjoy the feeling of developing and gaining experience.

5 - T like that the game is not simple and noob-friendly as all the other crap ARPG out there.
I play solo for 2 years, high level mapping and get to level 100 is kinda impossible soloing, but i always have fun in the leagues. Still dreaming that one day we can solo end game, and not need a party like an lame ass MMO.
I tend to play my characters to around 70, and then I make a new one to try out a different build. Over time, the item pool between my characters increases and only little to no trading is necessary for this kind of play style. Once I get bored of that, I'll give HC a try and repeat the same here. It's essentially how I played D2 for years without it getting stale.

Sometimes I think about taking a character higher than that and get into mapping, and one day I'l tackle the level 90 achievement, but for now I enjoy the variety. There are also times when I entertain the idea of getting into trading and use the wealth as a "score", something I did extensively in WoW, but between job and other responsibilities I feel that it may become too much of a time sink. But who knows, it's a lingering idea. :)

Right now I'm "working" toward the L65 characters challenge, so that I get at least one point this season, since the divine shrine refuses to spawn for me, and that's something I can actually do. I also seem to socialize a bit in channel 3, which makes playing a bit less of a lonesome activity.

What's fun to you is your call, though. People like different things.
Play 90% of my time solo, in a small guild with a few friends but we mostly chat while doing our own thing and I can say from a level 87 PoV endgame sucks balls, highest map I ever seen is level 73, once, level 72map also only once, been playing for a good year and while the game is ok, (nothing better out till D3 loot 2.0) I really really really really hope they add higher level zones 70+ 80+ 90+ outside maps, afterall the cap is 100.
