Updated RF calculator, before buffs and POF it takes into account a maximum fire resistance of 87%. 75% from player, +4% from passive tree, + 8% from rise of the phoenix

Sustaining RF got a lot easier due to max resistances and more life regeneration, it's a little bit early to say which way is the best to go and optimze passives.

So far I'll go with this build, which will be around level 65: 80 points RF build

Let's see how this goes in Invasion :)

I'd say this is a more viable start:

80 point RF build

Most of the life wheel nodes are useless now compared with other options.

Edit: here's what I'm thinking for my lvl100 Marauder build: RF at 100

Not a definite build yet...but more regen = more life restored faster with use of ruby pots.

JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING!!!

now we can make a vulnerability-proof build...if you take all the regen nodes (and obviously +max FR/all res nodes)

:D

Edit: anyone new looking at this build should consider Marauder due to the starting node vs Scion..Scion is better for ES build

Hello, vulnerability and half regen should be np, it might be even possible to use other shield although I haven't confirmed that yet. Maybe even hybrid life/es.

WRT to scion vs marauder the new tree didn't change anything, both areas are needed for optimal life RF build, but scion has the possibility to go es after respec. I still see no reason to go marauder instead of scion.

Started leveling with ground slam...bad idea. Invasion is really hard, changed to spectral throw for leveling.

I disagree...look at the starting nodes. Scion = +10 to max life...Marauder = +16% armor and +16 to max life. Is it a large enough difference to switch from a scion already high level? No...but my point was for someone starting a new character based off this build. If you want the option to switch to ES build after, then yea...scion is for you. :D

EDIT: Necro...the calculator needs to be fixed agaaaain lol. PoF isn't linked to the increased buff % input.

I've been playing with the calc and builder to figure out my optimal lvl100 build and came out with 2 different options:

option 1:
tree

option 2 loses 8% aoe range and 12% to all res, but gains roughly 900 hp and +1 max cold res:

tree

According to the calculator, both end up around the same DPS. I'm thinking option 2 seems better.

You're right with the starting node, mara's are improved but it is still like previous patch where mara can skip scion's start point but still should take the 3 x 0,4% life regen and scion should take all of mara's ponts. In the end the difference is one passive which is meadiocre but not useless (10hp).

I need to update the guide but having too much fun leveling :P

I took a look at the calculator and the added buff to pof is working fine, below is the formula where: E4 = increased buff effect and E5 = increased aura effect and E6 = total to maximum fire resistance from POF

=ROUNDDOWN(SUM(E6*(1+(E4+E5)/100)),0)

WRT to passive trees I really need to take the time to check it out and calculate stuff, will comment later :)

heh...it IS working now, but earlier it wasn't. I had typed in 100 for buff value after noticing no difference in change from 6% to 24%. It musta just missed you and wanted a reason for you to say hullo. lol :D

ty for checking into it
just wondering if you guys think i might be able to run righteous fire with saffell's frame (which now only sports 4% to max resists) instead of rise of the phoenix.

That would be a 4% drop in max FR, so you'd need to take extra regen nodes to make up for it, and have a lvl20 PoF in a +3 weapon.

Rise is a better choice, because the regen nodes would take away from max life or damage nodes. Also, Rise makes it MUCH easier because you can further out-regen the burn, so end up using less pots.
A question about snapshooting: when I cast RF in Carcass Jack, and then switch to my Koam's with more hp and +% burning dmg, do any of these stats affect the RF damage? I.e., do I benefit from the additional hp and burning damage after the RF is already running? No, right?
