I'll be streaming for 160 out of the 168 hour race coming up.

You actually think you can stream for 100 hours straight without sleep?
I'll be surprised if you make it past 70, but kudos if you can - I'll definitely be watching, if for no better reason than to watch the madness of insomnia consume your mind before you die of it ;)

Well, he did get past 70. Are you surprised? ;)

I don't think 160 hours of staying awake is that bad... Many people did it at Diablo 3 launch and as other people stated the first 70 hours are the hardest. After that you almost don't feel the need to sleep and you can usually tell when you're having little microsleep naps. As long as he stays hydrated, eats and has enough vitamins and electrolytes he should be fine...

I was really disappointed to tune into your stream this morning and see you creating a chicken bot with AutoIt. I think that it is absolutely amazing that you are playing a 100 hour marathon, but next time, it would probably be a good idea not to stream the creation of an AutoIt chicken bot. I am sure that many of us can understand the frustration of dying, but a good idea is to gain knowledge about the game and learn from your mistakes, rather than create a script to prevent you from dying.

Of course, I do not know the circumstances for your previous deaths, some of them, if not all, could have been the result of glitches/lag/desync, but you have to remember that everyone has to deal with these problems as well during the race, and this is one of the points of the races during the closed beta.

I feel that the "I died so I have to create a bot to prevent me from dying" is not the appropriate approach to racing, and it is totally unfair to other competitors.

Good luck on the rest of the stream.

First of all, there was no 'bot' about it. All I do was remap my tilde button to do the following:

Push escape, move my mouse cursor to the log off button, and then click it.

It didn't auto-detect me on low health or anything, I still had to push the button.

Chris already stated in a interview that alt-f4 is totally ok to do in HC, as well as the town portal tricks on bosses. That being said, I haven't actually watched the stream, but using a bot for doing the alt-f4 is not ok in anyway.

I doubt that - so its 'hardcore' to quit out of a game because your char is overwhelmed? Sorry what is hardcore about that exactly? I thought this game would have had timers for people that alt out - real shame, as people will always take the abusive quick way out. And thats not what hardcore is about.

He said it during Kripp's Q&A iirc, so it is a thing he definitely supports.
Leaving in alt-f4 is a good excuse to add in ridiculous bosses, which is what chris plans (and has in turbo with brutus) to do.

Creating a hotkey to exit the game isn't a bot and is not against the rules.
It is not in the same league as creating something to detect when you are on low hp and auto-quit.

Clarification
'Support' does not always mean
tolerate, condone.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

I am sorry but I dont see how being able to quit out of a game to avoid being killed is anyway 'hardcore'. You have ONE life, and you quit the game everytime there is a chance of dying? It means yes you can survive hard boss fights but it also means you can survive ANY hard fight as long as you have time to click a button. BTW if snyones defence is this cheese was using in D2, that not a positive as that is simply one incredibly abused and exploited game.

I dont know why anyone would want to keep this in the game and not have a timer on logout - all is does it lower the legitimacy of hardcore in this game and lower the accolade of having a high level hardcore char. If cheesing like this is possible, what skill does one have to be able to quit everytime something goes wrong? LOL makes hardcore just as soft as softcore, in fact SOFTER as at least they have an exp penalty at higher levels. But then you can alt out of softcore too.

Sorry but its a shame to have such a polished wonderful game like this affected by cheese tactics such as portal scrolls and alting which makes the content trivial. I am sure this will be a hot topic very quickly in open beta and hopefully addressed.
