I dislike the "blame the victim" mentality here

But it is your fault. 99% of the time if you fail it is your fault. Embrace that attitude and you will be much more successful. Really, blame is a waste of time -- but if you must blame someone, blame yourself.

So there is still the possibility of being not your fault. Kinda contradicts your embracement of blaming yourself. Also, I do not fight it right that you have embrace that attitude, how would you know if it is actually successful for another individual. Everyone is different. It is also in human nature to blame someone else as well, but I would not support it either.

Honestly, it is 50/50, it is your fault or not. If there is more than one person involved, all is blamed or none at all.

This is a good learning experience and it should be noted somewhere, be it in paper or mind, to advise yourself to be more careful. Also, the scammer needs to face justice.

But on the other hand you could say, in reference to an earlier post, 4exalt for an act 3 rush is too much. This guy was willing to accept exalts, whereas, someone with morals might have said "you know what, just chuck me a few chaos" then the guy might have obliged and this thread would never have been created. However, he chose to accept four exalts, so the "scammer" felt that the person he was "scamming" justified his "scam". So really, without both sides of the story, both are to blame.

Another way of putting it: I met my ex and she used me for sex: is that my fault or her fault? It's both our fault. I let her, she started it. What would I advise a friend in the same situation: do it again...oh wait.... =D

It's your fault you feel this way.

On the one hand, victims of fraud are victims of fraud.

On the other hand, this. Well, specifically, the part that begins with "Unfortunately" in bold.

Here is a picture i found on Reddit which i really love and wish to share.

sure is.
sometimes the "victim", isn't really a victim.

I somewhat agree with the rest, though. especially the "got scammed" part.
a free-to-play game naturally attracts a critical mass of assholes.

OP, you wont get a good response because of the trollish community we unfortunately have upon us here. I agree 100% that 90% of the time, if you get scammed IT IS YOUR FAULT!

But instead of just commenting saying "ohoho you so stupid noob, u shouldn't have accepted that trade or loaned that item blah blah its ur fault its ur fault" I mean that's just kicking a man while he's down...why not take a minute or 2 and just explain to the victim what he could have done TO PREVENT IT? Instead of just telling him it's his fault, how about tell him WHY it's his fault...inform him on what to do, what not to do, etc.

^ Acts like this is what this community is missing. It's just everyone trying to "1-up" the next, or have the "funny comment" on the forums...it's obscene, and it's sad to be honest..but the internet as a whole is just turning into one big pile of doo, everyone wants to be a troll, the new generation of gamers I guess..

I've been scammed in this game as I prefer to trust people until they give me a reason not to. What I can say, without a doubt, is that I've gotten far more from the people I've trusted, than I've lost to scammers.

I've never been scammed in PoE, and don't think I ever will be. Why? Because I'm far too wise to juvenile scamming attempts, and don't trust anyone unless they've proven to be trustworthy. I believe most players would scam another if given the opportunity. And I'd definitely scam a random player if I had the chance to.

My biggest scam in PoE to date was trading a Bright Beak Warhammer for an Eternal Orb, lol!! One of my proudest accomplishments. And I'd do it all day, every day to everyone if I could get away with it.
