The Damage penalty would affect the Totems more likely than not. Zombies spawned from Mines also deal more Damage.

That's because zombie damage is affected by the stats of the Zombie. The same is not true for totems.

However, I am a fool, because it links the 'less damage' to the skill you are using too. So it would still affect the totem damage. My apologies...
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

I've done a really quick test, not sure how accurate it is... (just been watching the speed of health bars going down).

But I'm fairly sure the 40% damage reduction DOESN'T apply to the burning damage effect of Fire Trap, only the initial fire damage is reduced.

If someone can confirm this, that'd be most excellent.
Currently, 'Damage' and 'Damage over Time' are separate mechanics. Damage-specific modifiers do not apply to Damage over Time.

One exception to this is Damage Taken, which applies to both Damage and Damage over Time.
The bruning from fire trap doesn't stack, either, though. So it's not really as powerful as you think. One firetrap is probably enough.

The point is, fire trap supported with multiple traps covers in flames half of the screen. This is huge survivality and comfort boost

Vertical makes much more sense if you're using it as a trap (so you place it where enemies are going to walk in to you).

Horizontal is only good if you're using it as a way to multicast your spells. So it's pretty obvious why they made it vertical.

Does it work with the trap support gem?

Does it work if the trap is linked to remote mine?

Yes and Yes.

This one is awesome combined with Conversion Trap.

Excellent! Thanks for testing it. :)

In that case, here are a couple more fun things to test:

A) Can you use multiple traps to lay three totems? (40% less dmg won't affect the totems.)
B) Can it be used to raise more totems or spectres than you'd normally be allowed?

I guess I can agree with that in a sense but factoring mob packs or even flicker you would be more screwed that way unless you maybe had coversion traps also or if the totem questions you pose work, if that's the case I could cave in for it to stay vertical.

Edit: Just tried to link multiple traps and spell totem and skeles did not work if that's what you are looking for.

Throwing near a wall OR CLIFF will prevent traps from being laid. You can no longer throw down cliffs or over obstacles when this support is equipped, seems like a bug.

Hi, this is intentionally done to avoid weird cases of traps supported by multiple traps from floating off to random places like the water in act 2 and getting stuck in walls etc. :)

It seems intentionally, unfortunately. They should have made them cluster instead of making them useless.
