Any one who feels like D3 will NEVER be good due to the lack of making builds?
" But if you liked D2, why dont you want an improved version of D2 in D3?? I simply dont get it. D2 was an improved version of D1, D3 on the other hand, is a... something that has nothing to do with it at all... |

I remember playing D1 on my Cyrix-686, which was because I let some sales guy tell me it was in some ways faster than a pentium! It was the last pre-built I ever bought. Nothing more aggravating than having d1 remind me every time I run it that my PC's not a pent....I digress.
I have no idea how many hours overall I put into d1 back in the day, but I know that by the time I finished playing the game and expansion with every character including the unofficial barbarian and bard, I had completed every difficulty and had the best weapons and armour that I had been able to farm. for my bard this was 2x kings sword of the leech. By the time Lords of Destruction came out for D2 it was possibly my favourite game of all time. I have spent 400 hours playing D3 in the hopes that I could find some of what made d1 so great. I checked out PoE and I realised that the answer is that whatever that thing D1 and D2 had was, D3 doesn't have it. PoE has it in spades. For me it was more than just the lack of customisation, it was that the somewhat cheesy story line had been reduced to what felt like bad teen fan fiction, with quite possibly some of the world's worst dialogue. The "Lord of Lies" who is quite possibly the worst liar in all the 9 hells. The demonic "master tactician" whose tactics involve telling you exactly where to go to beat him down until you are knocking on his door! Even so I soldiered past these shortcomings, desperate to rekindle some of the awesome times I remembered from days gone. I arrived in inferno as a freshly minted level 60 Barbarian. I received the smackdown. Then I received it some more. I ground some gear in more temperate climes. I farmed the warden and butcher run over and over, praying that some rares would drop and not suck. Blizzard kindly updated the game with a patch that would make repairs cost 600% more gold every time you got beatdown by a nasty affix elite/champion pack. None of the changes that came out in the patches seemed in any way designed to make the game more fun or better balanced in inferno. They nerfed gold find to stop people farming "too much" gold. Currency needs to be in demand or their RMAH ceases to be profitable. I never understood why you would let people buy with real money the one thing that is the reason you play the game. What's the point of buying gear in a game about farming gear? People complained that the game had no end game, so instead of an end game Blizzard gave people 100 more bars to fill. Once you fill all those bars you can now throw away all your magic find and gold find gear because you've already maxed it with your Paragon levels. So eventually everyone will be on a level playing field for finding higher quality items. That seems nice, but the reality is that 2 possible stat boost outcomes on items have been made worthless, so now you have more chances for identifying loot that is effectively vendor trash. These are just some of the reasons why, as a fan of Diablo you would be disappointed, annoyed or in some cases enraged. I found it poorly written, lacking in replayability and containing a lot of patch decisions that seem to be done specifically to reduce player's enjoyment of the game. That's not the game I remember playing, but I believed enough in the brand to pay for the latest iteration of it, and I'm sorry to say that I feel cheated. Not because I didn't get my money's worth. I probably did, but because it sullies the memory of what came before it by removing much of the things which previously made it great. |

" Now that thing with the paragon level system, it seems more as an excuse for Blizzard to make players constantly farm in the SS (SlaveSystem) as well as the BFS (Bot Farming System). You know, Blizzard does not care about bots, because Bots give money to Blizzard in the way that... Because 1 botter can farm with 60 characters 24/7 every year, they are able to sell INSANELY OVERPOWERED stuff for RIDICIOUSLY LOW prices. This mean that if someone wants to be Paragon lvl 100, there might be a chance that he will buy an item that is insanely overpowered, but extremely cheap (And we are talking REAL CASH here.) because of the bots who fuck up the ecconemy. This basically means more money for Blizzard. (and for botters.) Another way that the ecconemy gets fucked are hack programs, that simply generate gold. Not gonna link any hack websites, but it is EASY for you guys to find what i am talking about if you want to. So, if someone has never ending amounts of gold, he can just buy items from AH non stop, and this fuck up the ecconemy. Srsly, sometimes this AH system is in danger of being directly illegal for earning money in an illegal way. Its kinda like creating fake money when a botter with 60 chars generate real money to himself this way. I mean he is not helping the society this way, but he still gets a shit load of real life cash. When ppl are lvl 100 paragon, they will prob add paragon lvl 1000 just to get more money from bots. |

Lol d3 sucks so bad.
Check out this video, someone identified 1000 rares in d3. The result was... predictable, sadly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGwx1K0KuHo&list=FLGJoCGX7B81fgORoezGDskg&feature=mh_lolz |

" Why wouldn't people be pissed from waiting years and years for a game to turn out worse than its predecessors? So what if its a decent game compared to other games. Its hugely disappointing to most of the Diablo fanbase but oh well I don't need to play it so I shouldn't care that I have expectations for my favorite franchise. Used to be favorite franchise... Disappointed is not pissed, it's disappointed. I'm disappointed by some stuff Blizzard did with D3 too, including the lack of "character builds". But getting pissed just blinds you to possibilities. Like the possibility that games without character builds can be good too.

" I completely agree that games without character builds can be good. I have one on my xbox right now called Crimson Alliance. However the game doesn't last that long before I have accomplished everything and don't feel the need to keep playing it. Diablo 3 SHOULD NOT have been like that. It should not have so quickly ended up feeling boring and like a chore to play. People who weren't long term Diablo fans may have just been a little disappointed but a lot of long term fans not only felt that but also felt pissed off that a sequel to one of the best PC franchises ever was in development for so many years and put out this mediocre bull crap. Games should never be all about making builds, but at the same time the option should be there. That is why games like Fallout New Vegas are good. You can do about anything, without worrying about the game restricting itself according to your build.

" The thing is to make a balance. Imagine if PoE was ONLY about SKILL TREE, no items or active skills. That would suck. D3 has the problem with being about only ITEMS, Combine both for a fix, along with some other ideas. GAME = SKILLTREE = FAIL GAME = ITEM = FAIL GAME = SKILLTREE (WHERE THE SKILL TREE IS GAY) = EPIC FAIL GAME = ITEM (WHERE THE ITEMIZATION IS GAY) = EPIC FAIL (This is D3.) GAME = ITEM + SKILLTREE = SUCCES GAME = ITEM + SKILLTREE + PVP + DIFFERENT LEAGUES + THE FACT THAT THE ITEMS AND SKILLTREE ARE WELL MADE AND VERY AWESOME= EPIC WIN (along with possible other, more specific in game ideas that im not gonna cover because the post will be too long if i haft to give a description of such ideas.) |
