Any one who feels like D3 will NEVER be good due to the lack of making builds?
The things that made D2 fun, was to make a build. (Allright, there were other things aswell.) There were plenty of builds, there were even some very special ones. Here are a list of some:
Hydra + Fireball Sorc Fireball + Meteor Sorc Lightning Sorc Nova Lightning Sorc Frozen Orb Sorc Blizzard Sorc Blaster Sorc (This was a ice build that relied on Ice Blast and Glacial Spike.) Melee Sorc, allthough i dont even know how this worked. You could decide if it would be a Energy Shield build or not. Some wierd fire build that only used firewall and blaze. Im gonna add a Magic Find sorc as a build for itself, simply because it was so different, even though it mostly used one of the other builds, it was still BUILD UP around magic finding. Summoning Necro Bone Necro Poison Necro Poison Dagger Necro Hybird Summoning and Bone necro. Some really wierd Teeth + Poison Nova build. I have no idea how the hell this is possible. Golem Build. This is not really viable, but it was a possible build, but it was never buffed into being stronger. ): Kick Assasin Trap Assasin Hybird Trap and Kick Assasin Trap Assasin can follow the path of fire traps or lightning traps, however, lightning traps were simply better. Kick Assasin could also follow different paths. Dragon Talon was the most common skill to see. I,ve heard of some wierd Venom assasin that relies on high poison damage. Whirlwind Barb Frenzy Barb Berserk Barb Throwing Barb (Throwing Weapons) Barbs who are dedicated into using a specific weapon type. A wierd type of magic finding barb who maxed out the Find Item skill as a way of doing Magic Find. Never tried it, but it sure sounds fun. Werewolf Druid that uses fury and frenzy. Werewolf Druid that uses rabies. (And Poison Creeper.) Werebear Druid that uses Fire Claws and get synenergies to the skill from the Elemental Tree. Known as Firebear. Werebear Druid that uses Maul. Summoner Druid, very hard to play lol... and slow... but it was possible. Wind Druid Lava Druid Lava Druid often decided if Volcano or Fissure would be his primary skill. Fist of Heavens Paladin Auradin (Uses a aura that deals damage to kill enemies, much like the Degeneration Aura from certain monsters here in PoE.) Smither Paladin Hammerdin Charger (Mostly for PvP only) Zealerdin Im not gonna cover the Amazon because i did never really get much into her, and also simply because i sucked at playing her, and therefore dont know her builds well. XD Im pretty certain that i forgot a bunch of builds aswell, some that i forgot, some that i dont know about. Now lets compare this to D3. Oh wait, D3 has NO BUILDS. Typed in some more about this. The text is below the user called CetniK, who is just below this text right here. |

It's not just the lack of character builds, but it's also due to the dumbed down itemization and the game revolving around the Auction House.

Another thing that says alot about it, is that PoE has taken the system from D2 and changed it a bit, skills are found as drops, just like books in D1 except u need to put them in a socket and u can add support gems. Stat points are based on Passive skill tree and items. Boosts to skills that you want to make builds with are also in passive tree. D3 on the other hand, has dumbed their system down into being more simple and shittier than Diablo fucking ONE. YES ONEEEE!!! FROM 1996!!!!
PoE even makes builds based around unique items. The well known facebreaker build and the low life Witch build from the Redbeak sword. A amulet that boosts minions for minion builds. Brilliant ideas, keep em coming, they are epic! Alot more that i dont know about aswell for sure. D3 has also made unique items suck horribly because its all based on DPS. I remmember Wizardspike from Diablo 2, very well made item that gave you extremely fast cast rate, shit high ressits, BUT, no + to skills at all. This item was well made, because the character had to adjust his build around this item just a bit. In D3 its just.... eguip and, dont think about it at all. its NOOB. If i was a Diamond Supporter, i would design a item similar to Wizardspike. :D (I am aware that there are actucally 2 items both called Wizardspike, both a pair of gloves and a knife. using both at once would give 100 increased cast speed lol.) They both have exact same stats, except that the gloves give armor and the knife gives melee damage. (Melee damage useless for caster, so it doenst matter.) Some patching was done because these gloves were removed, aswell as boots that were also called Wizardspike and had the exact same stats. (150 fcr from 3 items holy shit wtf.) |

Well alot of us waiting for the new Diblo for years and at hte end i was like - o.O you kidding me?
Overall the game is bad. I think what PoE will be is what D3 shoud've be. |

Hey, I don't make builds in Super Meat Boy, but I still enjoy playing it. Diablo 3 may have pushed itself away from the "RPG" part of ARPG, but that isn't necessarily a problem as long as people still like whatever it ends up being.

The auction house was just their way of cashing in on the game. People were doing it through 3rd party sites for D2 and they didn't get any of the money off of it. This way they get a cut of the money and people can know that they are not going to get scammed on purpose. I have heard of more than a few auction house problems. Like the OP D3 really has no reason to replay a character. I hate the idea of knowing that my character is the same as the other hundreds of thousands except for the gear. In interviews Jay Wilson said that they did away with stat point allocation because people were only doing it a certain way. Personally if the vast majority are doing it one way change the system to give people a reason to reconsider. The quest rewards are bad too. All you get is xp and gold. They couldn't really do anything else though since you can replay all of the quests as much as you want. They did make some changes I liked but no customization really ruined the game for me personally.

" Most people enjoyed D3 until they got to the end game, that doesn't mean that it succeeds as a Diablo game. Did you play Super Meat Boy for hundreds of hours? I'm guessing not. People expected a Diablo game and D3 is too far off to be a Diablo game. Standard Forever

"I'm not talking about it as a Diablo game, I'm talking about it as a game. As whatever kind of game it is, not the kind of game it isn't. |

" For ppl who were fans of D2, it fkn is. Thats why we are so pissed. They made a game that was not for Diablo fans. They copy Torchlight, and all the things that looked like REAL DIABLO 3 from 2005, was removed for no fucking good reason at all. Oh wait, the only reason was that WoW was dying. Blizzard North basically got their game raped by Blizzard this way. Im tired of ppl from other games who like Diablo 3 because they are mostly ppl from WoW, Torchliht, and few from D2 and D1. I,ve written in some other comment that D1, D2 and PoE are alike games, but D3 on the other hand, is alot like WoW, Torchlight, and other titles who were not supposed to have anything to do with Diablo 3. |

Well I'm a fan of D2, played approximately a bajillion hours in it, but I'm also a fan of plenty of other games and I don't need any of them to be D2 except D2. But hey, if you want to get pissed because someone released a game you aren't interested in even though you don't need to play it or think about it at all...I guess that's your right.
