111 Skill Points Not Enough !

if u could get every node, wouldn't that reduce characterization? the choices you make with limited resources are more important than in a vacuum.

also, you're not going to get 100+ points per character. your going to max out at about 85 - and that's after a lot of grinding.

the node's you want aren't there for you. they are put there for diversity in other builds.

OMFG I want to be a tank marauder but there's so many life passives in the witch area! not enough skill points!!

if we got enough points to grab everything, have auxiliaries and 2 main trees my recommendation would be to HALF EVERYTHING (points and the tree) because it would all be needless noise.

but i do see your point.

still believe we need a secondary passive tree point system used ONLY to "level up" specific nodes (large nodes are able to level up only for example). That would allow us to focus in areas without sacrificing travel within the tree, adds a simple balancing tool without major tree changes as well.

Actually when Act 3 is added, an entire difficulty is going to be removed to keep the overall scale of the game the same. So max level will probably not be raised and total skill points would drop back to 111.

As for 7 or 8 years from now (GGG plans to release 1 act per year) there is no way of knowing and is way too far in the future to be even considering.

TO THE OP: You may not have realized it yet, but the passive tree actually rewards you for specializing in 1 element or 1 aspect of your character. You seem to think it is useless to specialize but in fact it is the best way to go. The best builds are ones that focus on doing 1 particular thing very very well, instead of trying to do many different things. So pick an element and specialize in it. You will not be disappointed as long as you also get some good defensive options too.

If there are 111+4 then imagine another 4 points in the critical skill near the Witch on the bottom right. (or near the Shadow on the left)

This is a Lightning Build.

The only thing that could be missing is another 45% critical strike chance from bottom left near the Marauder (what are spell critical skills doing there anyway). And some more critical on the very top right.

Any improvement of this build is welcomed !

You can do it as Shadow, Witch or even Templar (but with -1 point)

1) Post these in the "Classes" subsections of the forum. You'll get better feedback there.

2) Though I see what you're trying to do, I'll say that any decent player of this game would generally say your build is not good by any stretch of the imagination. All you're doing is taking every single node of offense you can possibly get. You will have no defenses whatsoever.

3) You have proven exactly why it is best to have fewer points than more--it makes your decisions much more important. You have made a blind decision to just get every node you could with any sort of damage, without even thinking about character maintenance on the way. As such, you'd get brickwalled somewhere--likely late cruel/early ruthless. A good customization system allows you to screw up, for the sake of bringing more reward for success. This build proves the ability to screw up, showing why builds that do become successful feel that much better to make.

The total number of passive points awarded is likely to stay roughly the same. Additional acts will only add higher level content and more storyline- making grinding at and to higher levels faster.

For an action RPG, this game requires a lot of strategy and thought- which is part of what makes it fun. Making the best of the points you do get is the name of the game. These types of choices are common in PoE and intentional.

For example:

* Only ~70-85 (reasonably attainable) skill points but 1400+ passive nodes

* Skills come from gems which drop randomly - you might not get the ones you want (support gems in particular)

* It's difficult to get items with both high link count AND good stats...

* You can use in-game currency to turn basic items into godly items... but it's expensive

* Inventory space is a premium and portal scrolls are scarce early game (so are identify scrolls)

... etc.

We just need to get our "min/max" on :)

As I always used to say in the class forums: do not plan and end game build until you have experienced the end game. You need to learn how to balance your offense and defense and you will not learn that until you play the content.

This is not an mmorpg. You do not have a tank and healer with you.
