[PSA] How To Tell If PoE Is Dying

id say the actual number of ppl playing everyday is higher than it shows in website statistics, most of ppl i know play the game and dont visit forums nor site.

the idea is that the website statistics are correlated with the gameplay statistics.

it's not supposed to be some 1-to-1 correspondence between website views and people playing the game...lmfao...
Actually I dont want to say the game is dead because I dont know and also I doubt it will die, because its a great game.

However, my view has changed a little bit over the last weeks. In the beginning I played a lot and though I didnt played 24/7 I regulary had phases were I played a lot, but now I am rather spectating the course of the game instead of experiencing it.

The reason: The game is pretty unrewarding, simple as that.
Some day you WILL come to the point where the time investment is not worth the fun anymore. Also I see problems in some design choices which apear to be solid and also set in stone but if you think about it, those choices are highly questionable (MF, high XP curve, gamble with the "all or nothing" concept instead of an even difficult task but is achiveable if you plan to do it)

I think those 3 points are currently holding me off playing the game.

-MF, because it limits build diversity
-XP curve which makes deaths painful and more important: starting Alts is a punishment
-the high range of crafting. I used to think gamble is fun but in reality IT ISNT. The repetative disappointment does not make up for the 1 rare lucky event.

A high range factore being fun is a misperception, because actually it consists of two parts whic hhave to be viewed differently:

1, high luck potential for GAINING
2, high luck potential for LOSING

and POE is designed for 2, and EXACTLY THIS IS THE PROBLEM. If it was designed around 1, it would be perfectly fine. Nobody would have a problem if anybody finds 5 Kaoms in 1 night, but if you spend X amount of currency for nothing it is frustrating.

This. I could give a shit if any one else in the whole wide world plays the game. When it's gone it's gone. No biggie.

Blizzard also states that D3 has "millions of users everyday" & yet within the gaming community it is seen as a dead game. Just sayin'.

So what do we learn from this? Haters gonna hate.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
honestly those statistics dont mean much, if anything at all

the only number that counts is active players and only GGG knows that

Wrong. The only thing that matters is PAYING players. And only GGG knows that.

Wrong again. The only thing that matters is PAYMENT; the number of people providing that payment is irrelevant. And only GGG knows how much they're paid.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

Dunno, seems much easier just making a thread on the forums.
What matters for US is active players
