Summer season is about to start/alreafy starting... there's a lot of sequels and quite some stuff I'm excited for... first and foremost an anime original called "Deca Dence". Animation looks pretty amazing, setting is unique and the staff list is outrageously promising.

Any shows you are excited for this season?

in lockdown I started rewatching my fav anime Death note, I like that the characters don't wear the same thing every episode, it has a mature realistic vibe to it and I love the soundtracks. Also it's one of the few animes that I think sound better in english

I really enjoyed the movie ^.^

It's been a while since I've been here... oh well.

Deca-Dence is amazing. Even more so than I would've imagined. The plot took one hell of a turn in episode 2, but damn did we get a unique setting due to that. The latest episodes have all been great, good soundtrack, fantastic animations, a good pace for the story and a ton of interesting characters. I VERY highly recommend picking it up if you haven't done so already. All it has to do at this point is not fuck up the ending, which I highly doubt it will, considering the staff list.

The other great show I'm currently watching is Re:Zero season 2. What can I say, the story continues and it's still got the same level of quality it had before.

Also, there's god of highschool, a webtoon adaptation which pretty much boils down to nonstop fighting with great animation and a decent amount of story going on in the background.

GOHS has been flirting with the same Webtoon-based idiocy that TOG embraced much earlier on, but this last episode really sealed the deal. It's about as beautifully animated as anything you'll see this season but good lord did it shit the bed for good. Watch for the pretties, ignore the...everything else.

Deca-Dence is the clear winner of the season. Mob Psycho staff, NUT studio showing what they learned about 3-dimensional space from Tanya, original genre-spanning story...yeah, no argument.

Rent-a-girlfriend is very good. Unlike a lot of the post high school rom coms, it is absolutely self-aware that it's about a loser who somehow missed his train and has ended up with a truly sordid bunch of friends and one very shitty ex. Burdened with the usual ridiculous coincidences that drive this story of show, so keep that in mind.

related to that: Yesterday O Utatte also shat the bed at the last minute. A shame. It had everything going for it. Everything. That was Your Lie In April level disappointing and annoying. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Koipro aka Evol x Love AKA Queen's Choice is a bit of a sleeper. Based on an utterly execrable Chinese dating game, it's somehow got Studio MAPPA behind it and they've managed to make it kind of interesting and occasionally downright high quality. Also nice to hear Sugita now and then.

Gibiate. Oh, Gibiate. You have Amano. You have Koshiro Yuzo. You have THE YOSHIDA BROTHERS. And somehow you're on track to be one of the worst anime series ever made. Why oh why. And to really drive the nail home, you have Deca-Dence doing everything you've done, only WELL. You sad, sad animal.

Misfit of Demon Academy is your usual Silver Link. fare -- OP protag, harem, high school setting. Comfort food these days.

We are sitting on Fire Force and Re:Zero. We know they'll be worth watching once the season is done.

We'll probably do Uzaki and Breakwater later too. I know there's some low-key controversy surrounding Uzaki but meh. And Breakwater is your CGDCT.

Great Pretender hits Netflix....today I believe. Interested in that.

Dropped Japan Sinks 2020 four episodes in. Yuasa is a very talented guy but that was such an incredible misfire. To think they wanted to air such obvious disaster/torture porn right after the Olympics! Good god no.

High Score Girl was great. Nothing like watching two spectrum dwellers finding something akin to love over their shared obsession with fighting games in the 90s. So much licensing...

Mostly on an anime break for now though. Other than Deca-Dence, nothing has really struck us as must-watch for now.

Warhammer 40k Inquisitor: where shotgunning is not only not nerfed, it is deeply encouraged.

Dogma > Souls, but they're masterworks all. You can't go wrong.

I was right about PoE2 needing to be a separate, new game. It was really obvious.

Every now and then, the final theme from Sword of the Stranger pops up on my winamp and I'm reminded that, yes, Bones did once make the perfect samurai anime. Then I spend hours resisting the urge to rewatch it. Sometimes I even succeed.

The Pandemic is actually making westerners watch Anime ^.^ Netflix is noticing the value in Anime and how surprisingly cheap it is to make one. Technology has advance so much it takes 3 days to make a scene.

So I've been watching a lot of Forged In Fire recently, now that it's finally hit Australian streaming services, and just heard about this channel:

https://youtu.be/apTVzm09WYc

It's basically dedicated to recreating all manner of nerd/anime/game weapons. I did notice part of their crew is a past FiF champion (his spiked shield/gauntlet combination was really amazing).

Might be a fun way to kill a handful of hours for the local weebs, delighting in seeing some of the coolest killing shit in pop culture brought to life by skilled smiths.

edit: at least this one episode...
