(I'm not dead) Just patiently biding my time untill release :) Also GW2 Releases today.

The main thing that turns me off GW2 is the design aesthetic. The whole thing looks so twee and shallow, like the entire game was designed by Twilight fans.

Also, the thought of paying $60 for a game that has a cash shop is truly laughable. I'm sure there's a huge demographic for such crap, but I'm glad I'm not a part of it.

Im waiting for Open beta too... would be playing PoE right now instead of GW2, which is quite good but just more of the same.
Many thanks to fantazmat for the beta key!

Please understand people......

Just like in GW1

Lvl's do not matter......

Money does not matter....

Just the time you spend playing and solveing problems...

If you want to be a douche and buy stuff go for it, it offeres you absolutely no advantage competitively... Hell, I'll laugh at you as I get to lvl 80 without spending a dime in a similar timeframe that you got there....

Hell you can upgrade from normal edition to deluxe edition in the ingame cash shop...WITH INGAME MONEY!. Everything in the cash shop can be brought with ingame money.....

please...The cash shop is a joke, to make WoW and Diablo 3 RMAH users heads explode in confustion and let the Guild wars team profit while you are clueless :) And its a very similar stratigy to what PoE has been going with.

O yea, And I completely agree with the game being a subscription.....But please remember....I played guild wars 1 for "7 years". $80 for 7 years.... of guild wars 2....Sign me up.

And just like guild wars 1, the best looking stuff you wont be able to buy :)

@XvXReaperXvX : Ill throw you a msg ingame :) and what server you in?. Might throw you a guild invite too :)

Played a good five hours with the girlfriend last night. No real surprises -- we're mostly just catching up ground lost from our beta weekend experiences -- but still so much fun. Two thieves wandering the countryside doing just fine -- how many MMOs can claim that as a possibility?

I stand by my former summary of the game: it fixes everything I've hated about MMOs and amplifies everything I've loved. The fact that it does this in Tyria, my home for several years, is almost icing on the cake. Aesthetically it's true to its roots, too -- I really don't see how a comparison to 'Twilight' is even vaguely fair, but...okay....

As for the 'cash shop', all I've bought is some transmute stones so that I can very cheaply keep my rather awesome starter hood. 5 bucks for 25 such transmutations? Meh.

It's the dye hunting that's going to shit me. 360+ dyes of varying rarity.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

I loved GW1. I did not want to get my hopes up, at all, for GW2. I've been disappointed by too many sequels in my life (what Epic did to UT is worse than what Blizz has done with D3 IMO).

I was feeling the itch Friday and I happened to be home for lunch and my wife, out of the blue, said "I wouldn't mind if you got 1 copy of Guild Wars 4 (yes she called it 4), I might play it a little."

My wife isn't much of a gamer. She's a good sport and plays games with me a little. I have played her PoE ranger about as much as she has. Within about five minutes I had GW2 pre-purchased and downloading.

I have to say, so far through a ripe age of level 6, the game is impressing me a lot. It's so laid back, if that's the way you want to play it. Or, there's always events going on around you so you can ADD it as well if you prefer. The icing on the cake is that it runs acceptably well (~25fps) on my four year old hardware IN LINUX with pretty high eye candy.

I'll be back to PoE after some of the new wears off (hopefully around the time PvP goes live). They both scratch different itches for me. PoE cures my needs for OCD power mongering, while GW2 looks like a nice way to unwind after a rough day at work.

HOLY SHIT YOUR AVATAR IS AWESOME.

to answer: yeah, she's probably enjoying it as much as me. She used to play this silly pay-to-win semi MMO called space cowboys, so it's not as if she's new to the whole shebang.

But yeah, Gw2 is the perfect couples' game. We'll never outlevel each other, never get bored waiting for the other person to catch up, and always, always have stuff to do.

This game is going to last us years, I reckon.

Yes,

Like so many others, I am happily playing with my thumbs. Being a silent onlooker with pleasure as the devs work away to finish up the game ..........

hey man...... glad to see u again on this forum.......

yes, i have been observing gw2 on twitch.... haven't bought the game yet, it looks pretty interesting because they say low level guys can participate in world pvp because the low level will scale up to high lvl in the pvp instance... looks very cool to me...

i watch the kripp and kungen stream and it seems like a lot of gamers r having fun on gw2... seems like anet is encouraging a lot of team work on gw2 gaming as well as introducing many casual gaming elements for casual gamers :)

i might wanna hop on to the bandwagon soon if i can't resist the temptation lol....
