How did you find POE
I too dismissed it sometime around March while I was waiting for D3 fast forward a few months later D3 is the biggest disappointment in gaming I've experienced and PoE is one of the biggest surprises. I have no problem supporting a company that cares about their customers/playerbase and is constantly improving the game. I always know I'm in for a treat when I start up PoE and a patch starts installing.

I first started reading about the game on the D3 forums after I had played a bit of TL1 and after playing D3 extensively. I was pretty lucky in that some random guy from D3 general chat was kind enough to give me one of his beta keys the same day that I registered for the website! I didn't even ask, he just offered it to me as long as I promised to play it.

a young friend and i like to talk games, and the topic eventually turned into a 'discussion' about buzzard...
he was kinda angry that he bought D3, but his laptop can't handle it...so he decided he was going to re-up his WoW account...as he is really interested in the monk class... it ended up with us talking about 'skill trees', and how disappointed i was with all of em...so he said 'check this out' and promptly showed me the PoE passive tree... 'Holy Crap...is that real?...it doesn't even fit on the screen!...what's it called?...F2P?...an open stress test friday? ...i gotta check this out!' so...i got the client, opened an account, and promptly started researching game-play, builds, gems, and all the other usual suspects for the next two days... we eventually finished our conversation...sometime around tuesday of the next week...my bad...lol |

I was eating some cookies, and when I took a bite out of one cookie, it crumbled and dropped down to floor. When I bent down to retrieve it (10 second rule, if it has not been on the floor for more than 10 seconds, then it has never been on the floor) for maximum delicious OM NOM NOM I found a random USB stick. Curiosity got the better of me, and I checked it out and found some uncompiled source code.
I hooked up a C++ compiler with the code and produced a windows executable binary file called pathofexile.exe. Or did you mean how I found out ABOUT PoE? I was lurking the d3 forums for the lawlz of it (I quit d3 like 1.5 weeks after it dropped, I never play any game for very long, except a select few which I come back to again and again), and thought myself ahead of the curve, so I was curious if other people would also quit. Then I found a link to this site, and decided that 10$ was a very sympathetic price and checked it out. Best click click click rpg since Diablo 2, the only reason I am not playing anymore is because I am sick and tired of the same old two acts again and again, I don't care about the possibility of "maps" that spawn portals, I don't want to wade through ancient pyramid one more time (Oversoul is an awesome boss, btw). If I had my way, the game would feature no difficulty levels, but rather be compromised of like 15 acts, with each act having super hard dungeons that was of a higher level than that act in general, for which you had to find a key which was only available on later acts, so the developers got a good reason to re-use monsters and levels of the previous acts. The acts would start out pretty mundane (like how it is now, beach -> forest) but the final acts would take part in completely fantastical settings, like the Wraeclast equivalent of heaven and hell, or maybe the primordial creation or the end of time. That way you'd feel really badass when you hit those acts. |

TL/DR: d3 forums and youtube..
a friend of mine got D3 and he talked me into buying also.. i was going to pass but sheer boredum made me go out and buy it. after about 3 weeks, an entire classes overhaul and nerf after nerf after nerf, and countless hours grinding to find an upgrade for my gear that never happened (because i refused to use the AH) i realized that it wasnt fun.. so while on the forums seeing other people complain of the same thing, people were also mentioning POE. it seemed to be the game i was expecting D3 to be. so i headed straight to youtube and honestly never looked back. then i got the friend that got me to buy D3, to come over and buy into POE so he could play a real game. needless to say, he LOVES it thx GGG Things with "increased" and "decreased" in the tooltip are additive ... where as "More" or "Less" are multiplicative ...

I did a Google on D3 like games bought closed beta key in July the only reason I did not jump in earlier was PvP part. Had really bad exp with loving a game but getting ganged by people 20 lvls above me. I only play with guild and PvE. The home page should be more clear that PvP is a option.

Someone briefly advertised PoE in D3 forum. And then I started to keep an eye on and then the open weekend brought me in.
Some D3 fans bash this kind of threads, but now if I look back, I hope I had seen such a thread earlier. |

My friend made a video about this game, I think that he know about this game because of Diablo III forums. I never played Diablo III and I don't even want to in the near future. Path of Exile is such a good game and I am still waiting for my pre-purchased Torchlight II to come out.
