(another) Frustrated D3 player coming to try PoE

Hello fellow gamers. Being playing diablo III for one year non stop until i FINALLY realized that game (along with the whole company responsible) is beyond salvation and even beyond redemption. The huge love i held for the franchise was hard to kill, but it's at last over for me.

I have high hopes for this game, 'cos i see it's run by gamers at heart and not by corporate scrubs and cash leechs... and therefore, i want to beleive it's mostly played by equally passionate gamers and not pay 2 win scum that do not even know what playing games is about.

I really hope to get hooked for a long time, and i hope PoE earns it's place amongst the great games i enjoyed during a lot of gaming years.
Thanks!
POE is great game but u might have problems with lagg, some people do,also game is far from finished, its OB after all
Go balls to the wall and start your first character in Onslaught :)

Seriously though.

The class forums are very useful for finding builds, as well as www.exilepro.com

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have (this game is seriously addicting even when you keep dieing in Hardcore)

*edit, yeah, forgot about desync....Path of Exile utilizes a slightly different system than Diablo 3 in terms of action, first of all being the responsiveness in combat. Combat is very active, yes you can miss an attack, and there is usually a lot going on. Because of this, the great "desync" was born, but if you read up on it, I think it is pretty justified based upon their vision for the game. There are some incredibly detailed threads on it if you are curious.

Welcome overboard, Exile!

my advice? Open the game, turn off the global chat and just play.

Don't worry about the forum.

Don't be too concerned with the community.

Just play.

I agree with Global Chat completely lol. As far as community if hes been in D3 actually playing for over a year PoE Community is still gonna be a breath of fresh air. D3 is still without a doubt the home to the most entitled/wannabe/crybabies in the gaming industry. Does the game need work yes it needs a crap load and may even be beyond it but for the love of god quit freaking crying like a damn baby and just move on.

D3 may be the pinnacle of entitled crybabies, but I'd say you have to go to a pretty sad and lonely corner of the internet to find a community that beats PoE's in trolling, griefing, uncalled for animosity, and general mean-spiritedness.

Have you ever looked at a banned user's post history? It's amazing how much effort these people go through just to grief other users (making a trade thread and responding to trade requests, only to completely ignore them when they're about to set up deals, intentionally feeding new users false information, the list goes on...)

after playing Descent i am officially in love with GGG
it was like drinking a glass filled with fresh water
Community is awful(like most online communities) but the game is great. Like others said just turn off global chat and have fun collecting loot.

This is probably the best advice you can get.
Just play the game.
Your first character will most likely be bad, because you won't understand the game at first.
But don't get discouraged and just reroll.
If you love the Diablo franchise I assume you played Diablo 2. PoE has a lot more similarities to DIablo 2 than to Diablo 3.
Enjoy :)
