Level 68 witch in Onslaught with crap gear and -44 chaos resist. Doing absolutely fine.

Don't step in the chaos?

You are absolutely elite, and I am not. I acknowledge your superiority.

Now, do you have any information that might actually help?

I don´t like the sound of the post as well.. but he already has given the best advice available.
Stay out of the Chaos damage.
I had "-60" for quite a while in Standard..and at this time.. best I could do was to saty out of the damage.. which I did and which worked fine..

Getting some Chaos resist is another advice mentioned in this thread.. so really... as ridiculously as it may sound.. ths actually IS the best advice.. ^^

Moved to Beta Feedback.
Roman, I do not want to go bowling with you.
Why?
That's more like general discussion or gameplay help or witch character forums.

get a chaos resist flask, transmute/alter it long enough to get +charges +duration - youll be fine

I bow before your amazing hit points. You are obviously a superior player. Since I have only about 800, that makes you in excess of three times better.

Do you have any advise or information that might actually help?

Get more HP......like A LOT more.
Not reading through five pages of circle jerking. But I will throw out some general advice.

If you are planning to go CI, you still need life nodes and mods on gear before you get there. This may sound counter intuitive as the end result is 1 life and lotsa ES, but this is exactly why we have respec quests and regret orbs. Use them!

If you are not planning to go CI, then you still need life nodes and mods on gear. This game does not cater to glass cannons, even if you have summons as meat shields. There is always something in the game that will bring you down, and you either need to a) compensate for that, or b) acknowledge that you chose not to or failed to compensate for that.

It is completely acceptable to make it to cruel, merci, maps, anywhere in the game really, and acknowledge that you failed to design an adequately survivable build. From there you can either choose to respec a little bit to compensate for your mistakes, or reroll a new character. Both are acceptable, so long as you learned something! PoE is more so about "leveling up" the player rather than the character, be it in stashed items and currency to make your next character more powerful, or in accumulated knowledge about what works and what does not.

If you are suffering from chaos damage, Amethyst Flasks are your friend. So is learning to recognize which mobs deal chaos damage and avoiding them.

If you are suffering from puncture damage, use alts on a flask until you roll one with the staunching modifier.

Just like with glass cannons, PoE is not a game that you can rush through once you reach merciless. You need to take your time. If you wish to rush carelessly, or play a glass cannon, then death is largely your own fault. If you cannot recognize when fault is your own, PoE likely isn't the game for you. It does require a significant amount of patience, and banging your head against the wall is entirely unprofitable business in Wraeclast.

Not saying any of these apply directly to you, but just general information. Take from it what you will. Hope this helps :)

there's no chaos damage in Act I afaik. At all. Like others said, it was probably puncture.

Unless you got 'lucky' and got added chaos damage aura affix on a rare or something. but I doubt it.

Honestly you best bet is to learn to recognize the monsters that deal chaos damage, and their attack patterns. Most of them have something you can do to avoid the attacks-

Spiders: Stay away from melee range and no chaos dmg

Alchemists: Focus fire them fast(they have very low life) and dodge Chaos Bombs(they are easy to dodge)

Snakes & constructs: hide behind your undead horde.

My main is a witch using fireball behind enough minions to keep the enemies from hitting me. This has worked fine until now. I am at the beginning of Merciless, in Act I, just hitting the Prison. I think I am somewhat over leveled at 58 and can do Ledge and Rising Path easily.

However, the chaos/poison damage from the creatures in the Prison is slaughtering me. I have lost half a level, with a chaos resistance of -36.

I have taken all of the chaos resistance passives I can find. Chaos resistance on equipment seems very rare, and even if I find it, loosing my slotted gems would be catastrophic.

I don't dare go CI because I have only about 800 energy shield.

How do witches survive the chaos damage? Any advise would be welcome.

Seriously, skip content with chaos dmg.
btw., i rolled many witches, never bothered with chaos resist, but you have to have life even if you are going to transit to ci later(respec after that).

are you retarded?

i love asking that question

You started by beating your own chest and measuring your own e-peen instead of giving helpful information, and then when I called you on it, you ask insulting questions.

Perhaps you should look to yourself.

It is this kind of behavior that spoils the community.
it wasnt even my post, do you even read?

the post was filled with helpful advice. he clearly states how much hp he has, how much chaos resists he has and how much of a problem chaos is to him. compare to your own stats and how troubling chaos is to you and you basically have your answer
