Hoping GGG sticks to their guns.
As the size of the community increases, demands for GGG to change the game will increase. They will get less and less constructive and more and more entitled.
I see the first two big complaints will be FFA and respec. I'll be the first to admit that I didn't like FFA at first, but after reading responses from GGG it's obvious that is a major part of what they envisioned for the game. I want to play the game GGG designed with some influence from the community. I don't want GGG to develop a game designed by the community. I know these topics will be highly debated from now until OB and long after that. I understand the need of a developer to appease their audience so they can make money and eat. I just hope we get to play PoE the way Chris imagined it. My intent isn't to debate FFA or respec in this thread. I can just see what kind of attitude is coming up a lot and hope that GGG doesn't feel the need to compromise on their goals and ideas to satisfy the loudest critics that believe they know more about game design than the professionals. " ... to let them know the game isn’t going to be very fair from here on out."

I like both systems as they currently are. They made some concessions already on both fronts, and there should be no more.

I agree with OP. Popularity can be good and bad. Listening to the community feedback is a good thing, but the community is not always right. I hope they stick to their guns as well and complete the game as they envisioned while implementing constructive feedback that is in line with the vision.

Signed +1.
Looks like the influx of casual players from D3 is starting to make their presence felt. Damn you Kripp. The Beta manifesto needs updating to solidify GGG's position. You'd have noticed that the people who adhere to GGG's vision would have joined before D3 was released. Soon we'll have proposals for, erm, polls. GGG's a democracry aight? Blizzard listened to their community and looked what happened. POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!

Free for all is absolutely terrible, and not advisable.

" And then this right after: " Or did you mean to say critiques? Changes the irony of the situation a little. Last edited by esotericdaemon#4631 on Aug 2, 2012, 3:59:19 PM

Yeah im really started to see a change on the forums on the many opinions being expressed. The new influx of players is bringing in more and more want for "casualization". Its inevitable and understandable, but i hope GGG doesnt change their goals too much because of it.

OP I totally agree with you. This is something has me worried as well. With the huge influx of players from D3, we're going to get alot more kids, alot more crying and whining about what they want.
I just hope GGG sticks to their guns, like you said. |

The greatest impetus for 'dumbing down' the game would be to appeal to a wider audience and increasing revenue. Seeing as they've already spent years scraping by on I'm guessing Top Ramen & Hot Pockets (or the equivalent Kiwi brand), I think it's a safe bet that they're well prepared to 'stick to their guns' for the long haul.
