Patch+Orb of Fusing chances ...

Here's my numbers:

LVL 70 (rolled this before I knew about the relationship between item level and prefix/suffix).
68 fusings (pre-patch no quality) used on Saintly Chainmail to get 6L. I certainly don't regret using the fusings for it though. I'm pretty sure I made it around 1.0.x patch.


LVL 79 Carnal Armour: 257 jewelers for 5S x 4. 94 fusings for 5L x 0 times. 360 fusings + 20% = 5L x 3.


LVL 79 Zodiac Leather (purchased 6s): 77 fusings + 20% quality 5L x 0.
