Eternal Orb Speculation

It needs to be dropped less than chisels. Combine the orb + a map to guarantee a +1 level map drop.

I'll respond to each claim DexDeus:

noob Normal - did that. still pick up 3-color gear occasionally to sell for chromes. didn't trade then.

Cruel - didn't craft. used some low currency to buy stuff from friends once in a week.

Merciless - super gear-check for my poor melee Marauder. spent a few GCPs and the 2 Divine Orbs I had to gear-up and survive solo act 2 and 3. farmed Docks/Lunaris (before levelup)/Market/Catacombs like a mad dog. still do about 4 runs a day in each area.

Maps - tried selling all the trash in my stash. almost no buyers. some stuff went for a few Chaos and occasional GCP. spending Alchs and Chaos like crazy because I'm at the level 69+ stage of maps now.
getting mostly 1-socket whites/blues. one rare in a million that's vendor trash, a few uniques worth no more than a few Chaos combined.
a recent rare Tropical Island map with over +100% quantity roll produced mostly trash.

how many Exalteds I found? 0. best was 1 Divine. 2nd one was from trade, and spent them both on my hammer.

taryns shiver - never found. once spent all my Fusing Orbs (about 80) trying to 4-link some boots. failed.
lioneyes glare - never found. (my Ranger in act 1 Merciless needs one desperately).
a 300dmg claw - nope.
a nice shield - my nicest is maybe worth 1 GCP, and that's stretching it.

"I wasnt lucky" - oh hell you were!

you don't know me man. I'm RNG's no1 most hated Path Of Exile Player.
Khemintiri is RNG's favourite. he finds 30 Chaos Orbs a day. I never had 30 Chaos.

I just "love it" when people "teach" others "how to be rich" in a game completely based on randomization.
you're rich? good for you. now shut the hell up!

kinda weird how im rng favourite in every game huh .. every day i play for a decent amount of time .

also weird how me having personal responsibility actually makes me want to make myself better every day instead of whining at every problem i have in life, be it games/women/money/friends ... but hey i guess im just lucky .

live every day to become better then the last , be a better man/woman as often as you can and it will make it easier for you ... promise.

rng is random for every day , not for a whole fucking life ... just saying

rule number 1 for forum discussions: NEVER make claims about the real life of the person you're arguing with

what it does is makes you look that much more stupid, and me that much more angry.

you don't know me, but I have a good life. a job I enjoy that pays very well. a family I love. a beautiful home (I built part of it with my own hands).
I also graduated with honours from a known academic institution to get where I am today - so you dare lecture me about "personal responsibility" and making oneself better?

but getting back on topic, my real problem with RNG is it's the complete opposite of real life: your effort =/= results.
in real life, you work hard = you get profit. you do a complicated project = you get paid by the client, and make a name for yourself, attracting future clients. you worked your ass off studying = you graduate with the tools that'll allow you to start your own company (like I did), or get a job somewhere that pays well.

RNG = you and I both enter the same rare level 70 map. you come out with 30 Chaos and a Lioneye's Glare. I come out with 5 Alterations-worth of trash.
you play 5 hours and get super-rich. I play 5 hours and am super-poor.
you hit 6-link on your 10th Fusing. I waste 80 Fusings trying to get a 4-link - and end up with a 1-link.
you drop a Mirror Of Kalandra/Exalted Orb from Hillock in Normal. I never see neither in a play-through Normal, Cruel, Merciless and Maps.

trying to "teach people how to be rich" is acting like a fool.
trying to "take it to the next level" like you did, and make assumptions about one's real life? NEVER, ever do that again.

one thing Path Of Exile RNG and real life do have in common, is you have to respect the less-fortunate even if fortune smiled on you.
you know what would happen if I put my suit on, then walk up to a homeless person and give him a lecture about "personal responsibility"? I'll likely end-up in hospital with multiple stab wounds.
I'd rather give him a $50 bill and wish him a good day. make him smile for once.

I have seen the future
And i Can tell you
Eternal Orb is used along with the map in map activation device. and you get to run the map and still have map back.

Kind of like Mirror for Maps.

can't be used on unique maps i suppose
The rest of the 'end-game' content will be available along with a heap of new stuff when the game launches in a few months time. From what I've seen it's going to be awesome. - Michael_GGG
My guess? it upgrades the base item of a rare or magic equipment to the next tier.
Better stay in the land of the damned, Exile. Here, even the very words are corrupted by Nightmare.

You are diffinitely doing something wrong man, if you are THAT poor that you are struggling to play. I am not rich like you said. I'd say im average. Your assumptions about our drops are just plain wrong. I have never even seen a mirror. The best thing i have had drop was worth about 7 ex. Yet i have 60......... In 25 days - or 600 hours of play i have had 4 good drops that were worth exalts.

As i mentioned previously i have made almost twice as much from trash as i have from good stuff. Instead of arguing with us, because you are wrong, go and work out how to make money.

So i work out at making an ex every 10 hours. Or 1 gcp an hour lets say.

That is deffinitely not lucky, just normal.

1 gcp an hour of farming on average is pretty standard. Hell you could probably make at least a chaos with the chaos recipe in that time. Plus currency drops + 1 or two items worth a chaos.

I am not going to tell you anything anymore - go figure it out on your own, because you are being argumentative instead of taking good advice and learning how to end game.

rng player 1 is roughly the same as rng of player 2 as time goes to infinity.

id certainly say that around 500 hours is sufficient.

my favorite idea of all of them. much like mirror would be useless to 99% of players as it's value would be around half as much as a nicely rolled 76 map (around 3-4 exalted), and it would be stupid to use one on anything but a nicely rolled 75+ map. (just as it doesn't make sense to use a mirror on a low level item). it's sole use would be to help lvl 85+ players further their map base and gain XP, while shhiifting the exalteds of the rich into the hands of whomever happens to have an eternal drop for them, i like it everybody wins.

that being said i highly doubt that's what it is.

personally i expect it to be a lesser orb that interacts with maps, perhaps same drop rate as chaos, sort of the next tier of map item after chisel, too tired to guess the function right now :D

p.s. stop fighting guys get a chatroom or something

Upgrades map to next level is the bet I shall hedge my..bettery on.
If GGG chickens made an action RPG, what would it be called? Path of Eggxile, a Peck 'n' Slash RPG.
Why was the helmet spluttering? It was a coif.

ah yes, good old probability.
but you see, even if GGG did RNG right and it's not like tossing unfair coins - "infinity" is a nice concept. nice, but theoretical only.

you play 600 hours and get 3 exalts and all the awesome uniques you listed. I'll need to play 800 hours to get them. 900 hours. a thousand hours. who knows? time goes to infinity.
we both play a million hours and I'll be as rich as you. if not - 2 million hours. or 3. or 10...

but right now both you and I know, that you have a better "starting point" than I have.
you're "investing your millions" while I am yet to make one.

the only way I can "make a million" from what I have right now, is go find a newbie, and scam him. sell him something that's hardly worth a Chaos, for 1 Exalt. make a lucky rich noob instantly poor.
I won't do that. I believe in fair trade. I'd rather stop playing if that's my only option.
or, I can go RMT...
well I'd rather kill myself before giving money to some bastard, who uses 3rd-world slave labour as "human bots".

the only thing I am doing wrong, is still playing this game.
I quit Diablo 3 for less.
one of very, very few games I didn't bother trying to finish, in 30 years of gaming.

but while I guess everyone knows what Activision's intentions behind D3 were, GGG's intentions are good. it's their implementation that makes me so frustrated.
and they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

also, please tell your friend Khemintiri, that even if I find a Mirror Of Kalandra or Kaom's Heart today - thus instantly becoming more rich than both of you combined - I won't ever be pretentious enough to tell someone "how to be rich". certainly not act like a douche-bag and try to give real-life "tips" about "being better".
I'm still disgusted by his post. he made me more angry than any internet troll ever could.
