Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

I haven't spoken on the subject in a while, you know I think it is falling on deaf ears but I still feel strongly about loot options. Every thread about looting and partying is stacked with negativity about FFA loot and even accounting for topic bias the feedback is still significant. Look at the number of open parties, dismal, whether it's FFA loot or not GGG must realise that something needs to be done in order to encourage people to play together. With more players will come more anonymity & unless people get together in public parties there will never be an actual 'community' but just a bunch of bedroom dwellers playing solo.

Loot options take nothing away from nobody, everybody gains & I feel the game will be richer as a result. POE will be the game "that even let's you decide loot options, cool" instead of "man I love the game but I just wish the loot wasn't FFA" which it is for some. Pro FFA'ers, we don't want to take away your style of play, it will be there just the same for you so you don't lose anything but for people who don't like it that way they have the option to play their way too. EVERYBODY IS A WINNER.

Not the thread I'm talking about. The one I'm thinking of Mark responded too.

surely not the cut throat blood pumping loot grab fest that parties turn into!

**Results**
Updated 11/12/12 16:00 est

Option 1 – 5
Option 2 – 6
Option 3 – 4
Option 4 – 0
Option 5 – 32
Option 6 - 5
Option 7 - 7

(mix of FFA + 3 + 5) - 1

Here are the results of the group loot poll thread. Option 1 is keeping the current system and option 6 is for full FFA. 10 players total voted for those and that's out of 60 players. Option 7 chose not to vote. So out of that portion of players the vast majority would prefer a different looting option to play on.

All this tells me is that:

A: People are naturally afraid of being in a game and sharing with others.

B: The single player aspect of the game is balanced pretty damn well. You DON’T
need a party to progress like you did in other games.

Moreover, you say there are 2-3k people in games but only a few public games:

How many of those people don’t want to be in a party for any reason?

How many of them are already in a public group but turned off the public status because they don’t want more players? Or the game is already full?

How many of them are in private games with friends?

If you want to join a group or team up with someone and you don’t see any public games all you have to do is ask in global or local chat in town. Otherwise, I would suggest building up your friends list at low level where people are more open to grouping.

Your idea of “freedom of choice” is freedom for YOU to choose what other people can or cannot do. NO FREAKING THANKS

This is a place where games go to die.

I know right, it get my blood pumping when I don't see nothing but a screen full of item names instead of the monsters actually trying to kill me. It is cut throat and intense having to stay focused on grabing the items with my name on it and watching for 6s, instead of caring about killing that yellow mob.

Fun fun... parties are good for fast leveling 60+, or playing with 1 buddy or 2, but beyond that, no thx.

I tend to be jovial, helpful and a nice person in general on these forums and game chat, but the loot/party situation just gets my blood pumping.

I don’t see how forcing people into one co-op play style is considered freedom….

Please do not take away players freedom to decide on their own how to behave. It’s one of the best things thing game has going for it.

Freedom of choice would be there with more options. There is less freedom right now. Either people put up with FFA in one way or another or they play solo. I don't see a lot of freedom there and apparently neither do the other players who are now asking for something else.

good golly! do you even play this game?

So you want settings that force people into a play style that the game host decides? as it is now you have FREE WILL to do whatever you want.

I play the game because I enjoy it inspite of the loot system.

Right now I have no freedom over the loot system I HAVE to use timer(FFA). If loot options were added I would then have the freedom to choose a group with my desired loot system or create my own.

You can talk about freedom all you want; but only having one option is the opposite of freedom
