Chat Channels

For me it would be nice to have an optional custom chat window, where you can invite anyone - something like private messages, but for more than one person. For example when I am in a party and my friends log in, then in other MMOs i have to write prefixes, when I want to speak with them (e.g. //tell). For me it's quite annoying. If I have a possibility to add them all to one chat window, then I will definetly use it.
IMO it shouldn't be a default window chat, but only an option.

Solus contra omnes
As I just put in another thread, the more options the players have, the more happy they'll be (as long as it doesnt go severely overboard *coughsecondlifecough*).

Having custom chat channels (including the simplified IRC idea [+1]) will be beneficial for groups and friends. Then standard general, trade, local, guild, etc channels as well. Everything that everyone's suggested in short.

Though I hesitate to support the trade chat. I spent far too many years on WoW I spose...
As you said it would be nice to have everything, but I think that most reasonable will be having default general, party and guild chats. The rest of them should be picked up from options in the easy two-click way of course.

Solus contra omnes
-World channel
-Local channel
-Party channel
-Whisper / Reply channel
-Guild channel (I dont care for guilds, nor i want them)
Global
Local
Party
Market
Private
Faction (If implemented)
Here's a revolutionary idea... Quest chat. Anyone in he game currently working on the same quest as you can see your quest chat messages, enabling you to find new friends and party members on the fly, anytime, without sending out desperate requests over global or act chat
I don't know how well this could be implemented, but one nice idea might be to have a chat option for 'local chat'. That is, people who share a similar local IP to you can chat in said 'local chat'. Such as say Western United States, Central United States and Eastern United States all broken into three 'local' rooms, determined by IP. It can also just be a selection option under the chat window of 'Central United States' or 'Western Europe' and etc.

Other than that, I feel the other main options I would use would just be:

General Chat
Party Chat
Guild Chat
Trade Chat
Private Chat

Also what dashgalaxy86 suggested about a Quest chat sounds good, but I have no idea how it could be implemented. Maybe it would have to be more like a system where each act is broken up into 3-4 parts and you can select that part to talk about.

I would say Local, Party, Guild, Trade, "Area" (I like that it's separated by difficulty, separating by act might not be a bad idea but i'm not too sure on that one), and the wonderful Quest idea that was suggested, and than have the possibility/commands for players to create their own channels ala the IRC idea.

Hi!

I will quote something that I brought in a new thread, yet few noticed it, so I will post it here hoping devs will see it:

Channels should have their specific color of the messages like so:

Global channel: white
Party channel: light blue
Whisper: light purple
When someone is online/offline(party or friends): light green

It doesn't have to be as vivid as the names.

This should make easier noticing important lines on the chat.

And sorry if I'm putting it in a wrong place or going little off-topic.
