Pickit hacks were a security exploit, not a necessarily a gameplay flaw. And besides, a pickit hack is thwarted by the timer currently on the good drops in PoE (edit: as is someone instantly stealing all the drops).

Also, meeting "good" people that shared was something that made D2 a great experience. If you never had that kind of group or friends list then that is unfortunate, but I eventually played with a community (Amazon Basin) that divided up the drops in town at the end of each game. Good people with gravitate toward good people if the system allows for it.
