i think i have a pretty easy solution... mix it a bit.
for instance in normal difficulty don't have the cannibals throw that burning bottle or the fox things in prison gate leave fire on the ground when they die...
introduce these things in higher difficulties... this way no one could say normal is too difficult.

also adding more stuff like this and different kinds of mobs as you get higher up in difficulties would make it feel more like your making progress then playing the same exact content again. :)

Drop pick up:
for the closed beta community FFA drops were just fine... and many of us prefer it over the current system or over any system at all.
BUT.... we really do have to prepare for open beta trolls and ninja looters... while in a perfect world we could just instantly BAN them... that isn't really going to happen.

really the best option here is just to let people have options... and show the current party drop system in the party screen and maybe let people click a check box to hide the drop system partys they don't want.

EXP: drops - FFA (5 second binding of random items)

Normal is supposed to be challenging. You know what happens when you make Normal into a hand-holding walk down the path? You get D3. You're supposed to feel challenged as an poor exile setting out into the unknown for the first time.

It didn't take me very long to figure out that the foxes (or whatever) explode after I kill them, and that's part of what makes the game interesting. Now when I see them in Cruel I'll think "those might be even more dangerous now!"

As for FFA loot...I love it. There is a disparity between ranged and melee, but that can be solved by tweaking the timers on the special/rarer items. Can't get to the item in 5-10 seconds? Well your loot is my own! There were times in D2 that I saw the most elite stuff drop but missed out, and there were times when I grabbed the sweet drops: it was all in good fun either way, and it all helped shape the experience.

Providing players with a window where an item is only available for them to pick up is more than fair already.

if they chose to keep this system they need to make that time longer... even when i don't lag i only get my items 1/2 the time.
i had better luck getting items when it didn't have the timed thing.... that just makes people want to pick it up more.

from what i have seen these look like the most wanted changes... from most agreed on to least agreed on... what do you guys think?

PANTS:
pants seems to be the only thing people can agree on...

tho i would say it is more they want armor to effect the lower body rather then all armor having pants.
for instance some leather gear should/could be a thong and some a skirt if your char is female and other such things...

omg, normal difficulty nerf is so unecessary! heres an old cliche, "dont stand in fire, i cant heal you if you stand in fire". so, uh, move? it works, you should try it some time.

please dont nerf normal, its already easy as it is.

All I want is some new weapon types such as spears/whips. Would be so cool to make a whip build!
Oh...and throwing weapons!!!

If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

they usually do get it when i say it... but im not there to help every single new player... and really how long dose it take to get threw the first act?
i can deal with most the stuff on the first act just fine... tho i do think there are way too many monkeys right after killing the act 1 boss.

the monkey section is the start of act 2, its not act 1. right now you wont see a proper transition between acts because its in beta. CG, story progress, lore, whatever ties the knot from act 1 to act 2 isnt in right now.

atleast id hope it isnt just walking through a door to a new part of the world and thats it lol

I think if they stick with the current loot system (not allowing different types in party options, ect.) then I would at least like an additional 1-2 sec (if not more). When your in a party you can be moving fast and pick up a lot of loot and sometimes need to rearrange a bit to get stuff to fit.

This would also make me not feel as bad for picking up other loot, as it gives the 'owner' more times to get it before other people. Most of the time I just leave it there till someone else grabs it.
