My experience in this game has been nothing but negative and harassive.

I thought a game like this might have had a positive community but atm im convinced the community here is even worse than in games like dota or league of legends. Its absolutely abyssmal how egocentrical and self centered people are, its impossible to join a party without every single piece of loot that is given to you (lighted for you when it drops) is script-looted away before you can pick it up cause no matter how many times you click it you wont pick it up but these scripters just pick it up by walking past while its lighted for YOU.
Ask your item back and youre either scolded, laughed at, kicked from the party, talked back to in chinese (most of the time) or completely ignored (probably a chinaman that cant understand and speak english) Solo this game is boring as hell now, still no news of new acts ive been waiting for for half a year. My younger brother also plays this game usually with more people but i cant have fun in this game ever, everyone is only out for their own pitiful gain. And VERY unsocial. Ive had chaos, exalteds, gcps and now uniques chinese scripter stolen from me and now ive had it, im so close to quitting this game, and fuck everyone who comes in to just say that 'go quit then' 'good bye' 'youll be back' 'dont let the door hit you on your way out' 'noone cares' 'can i have your stuff' ive heard it all and its exactly the kind of people i mean, if you were planning on writing something like that then its you who should leave not only this game, but all games, its your mentality that destroys all fun in gaming, its pathetic, infantile and a illness. That and the stale assholes that just play these games with scripts, bots, hacks and 3rd party tools, please jump off a bridge you pathetic neglect of society. If noone can convince me there are people who arent like that this very thread, im going to quit this game, and thats not a threat because hardly anyone knows me here, its a statement. This game is a negative experience for me, if that cant change why stay to play this? Up till now all ive been doing is wait for new acts but they dont come.. so what can i do.. People will flame us but I feel for you. GGG wants to promote a "cut-throat" feel but in the end what will happen is that casuals will be driven away.
We used to be 6 friends playing. We're all in our 30s with jobs, families etc etc. So you can imagine we take the casual approach, fool around, kill some time, etc etc. 2 out of 6 quit because of being unable to progress past mid-70s due to death penalty. 2 out of 6 quit because they love party play and hate soloing but party loot distribution felt too taxing. 1 is about to quit simply because the others did. I personally play less and less every day, usually less than 1 hour/day, just run a couple of maps and log out. Mostly because my pals left and soloing maps can only take you that far (enjoyment-wise). What GGG should also consider is that all those "cut-throat, hardcore" kids have less income to spend on the game compared to us casual oldies. So no only are you driving away potential customers, you drive away those potential customers with the possibly biggest wallets. POE is VERY well done for a game coming out from a new developer but please be careful or your game might end up barren. And yes, you can please everyone, make a new league (call it carebear for all I care) without a death penalty and with loot strictly personal (d3 style). Flame on! |

Well, the cut-throat feel of the game (no loot for anyone who doesn't click faster and stop to grab loot while other people are fighting, quests which allow you to PK people whether or not they want to PvP) has certainly made it a single-player game for me.
I enjoy the single-player game, but I can't imagine any circumstance under which I'd party with someone other than meeting them in town to trade. I don't like cut-throat play. Therefore, I only party in games where the game mechanics won't allow the kinds of griefing that are specifically and directly endorsed by the devs here. (Note: I am not doing the "they haven't done anything to stop it" thing. A dev said specifically that agreeing to do the bandits one way, then picking something else to kill people, is "perfectly OK". So far as I can tell that's true even in HC, where PKing on bandits boots people from the league for dying.) Learn to play, noob! <http://www.l2pnoob.org>

Loot options are coming, OP.
Don't know just how far they will go, but there will be better options for those that are completely (and understandably) confudled by the 'loot tension' design we have now. Casually casual.

The devs have said before they want to make different modes (they have already started testing a few out with races). I don't see why they can't make a more casual mode with no forced PvP and longer loot times (or private loot). Would they really lose customers for making such a choice? I don't think so.
But before you go, remember this is still beta. So come back and take a look once this game is finished; you don't know what they might have changed that'll keep you playing. |

People act like it's the games fault that the internet is a cesspool of time wasters seeking self-stimulation. The result? You either get 100% "safe" and happy games like wow that are heavily regulated and have no game freedom or you end up with people acting like dicks. I'll take the latter because I'm sick of games that hold your hand the whole way and make sure you never get ganked for any reason, never lose an experience point or get ripped off by another player, never end up fighting above your level, all loot is automatically divided equaly among the players with binding so nobody can whine or make unfair trades, etc. etc.

No community will beat LoL in stupidity, that's a fact. I have over 6k games in LoL and that is a good amount to say that overall it's a negative experience. In PoE i had less than 1% bad stuff happen when socializing, so i can't agree with you. If you play in default, that's out of my knowledge tho, i don't see the point in playing default, but that's me, don't mind.
My only concern would be the actual viability of diversity. I theorycraft in general and the numbers just don't add to using for example Arctic Breath or whatever spell in combination with X,y,z support gems. Using it VIABLE i mean. I still thank GGG for making the game and i'm sure they are trying their best to improve and whatnot, i just hope enough people are patient. |
