Large Chests

LMAO, COCOmoloco. Tell me why the moment I read the other guys post, I thought of her. Dark Souls was always a bit strange, but discovering her the first time was surreal, especially on my '50 inch TV. Jesus!

Because you remember playing Dark Souls for the first time, reading the player message "Large Chest ahead" on the floor, seeing Gwynevere's huuuuge chest, felt disappointed because you expected treasure, realized you got boobs instead and cheered?

pointlss crap like large chests should just be taken out of the game if GGG won't buff them.

It's true, you're more likely to find better stuff off the mobs around the chest than in the chest itself, lol.
I've probably found 30 or so large chests since I began playing and the best drop I ever got from one was a Redbeak on the way to normal Merveil.

They do strive to disappoint, don't they?
This thread is so full of win. But yeah, large chests, they need to be buffed. Farming Catacombs and seeing that chest is cool, having it never drop even a single yellow item, is kinda..ehhh, not cool? The mobs I killed to get to it dropped better loot than it did, so I guess if I was farming for loot it'd be more productive to just run off and click on another mob than the chest.
No matter what standard they pick, someone will want it buffed. Large chests aren't "rare" on the same scale as say "wealth" mobs. You get a large chest in the Dread Thicket, or the Catacombs, about one in four maps.

They don't drop you a unique every time, and getting a rare or an orb is a pleasant surprise. If they beefed them up to where you would expect this every time, they wouldn't be worth much anymore and after a time people would be back clamoring for a buff again. This is one thing in the game that's fine.

If anything, add some variety to random map tiles like the chests... give us "specials".

I think the issue is that FINDING a large chest is supposed to be a pleasant surprise, since they aren't all the time. Typically at this point in an ARPG a player would be like, "Oh sweet, I finally found another one! I wonder what it has!" and then perhaps 1-3 yellows would drop, and a bunch of blues, with a chance for even rarer goodies possibly. That sounds pretty standard and acceptable.

INSTEAD, we get clear after clear after clear, and finally a large chest, with like 4-5 blues and 7-8 whites. It ruins all of the excitement for a special chest that has its own room with a golden light on it. It's like some sort of Indiana Jones treasure at the end of the ancient temple, but instead you just found the last guys soda can and his dollar coin.

Yes some people will cry over anything and everything, but this is a valid complaint. What is the point at all of a rare chest in zones, if it drops garbage? It could easily be buffed just a little and it would make much more sense. Besides, I don't think people were asking for 10 yellows or them being equal to a Wealth mob, just that the chests be buffed
