Map Progression vs RNG 2.0 ( Feedback & Consolidated Player Solutions)
Haha, yea I spend way more time on the forums than actually playing. This has been the case for about 3 weeks now. Some days are worse than others. I just can't force myself to create another alt, and farming is not meant to be an all day affair. It is getting harder to spend the day reading forums though lately. Like you mentioned it is quite silent these days. That makes it really hard for me and this thread. Self bumping my own ideas and suggestions is just wrong =/
I had hoped for more contribution from others, but I understand many have lost interest in feedback. DISCLAIMER!

" The map system. Like you've stated. Dont get me wrong, i love RNG. But to much RNG is never good. This is worse then diablo 3 in RNG and diablo 3 atleast had ah to counter it in a way. But dont take me that i love diablo 3 for that, Its just has as shitty dropps, even more infact. And to make End game continent based on RNG is.. Well I've never liked the idea. And the sadest part, the ONLY map thats funny is the Unique one. WHY cant they all be like that or atleast similar? I've never enjoyed a map as much that one. But seems very hefty to get that map all the time just for the game to be fun. Just listen. Rng on the dropp for endgame continent. Rng on if the map is even whort wasting time on. Rng on the mobs in the map. Rng on the loot. Rng on dropp on the endgame continent inside the endgame continent. Sounds awsome right? No. Not at all. I will probably dropp the ARPG genre completley or just go back to diablo 2 hardcore ladder. Its funny that you only can have 2 actions and still Its funnier. Dont even get me started on the (forget the name of the mod) wich have reworked diablo 2 to a even harder and better game. More bars, better and more rewarding attacks and ofcurse better AI. Like some one stated here, he still plays some old games from time to time, and just tryed diablo 2 again. With the dusty and old grapich its still more enjoyable then both diablo 3 and PoE combined. I would just love if some one made diablo 2 with better grafics, better AI and extend the lore in the same fashion as diablo 2 is. Get me runes dammit. But that will never come to a reality. Its sad. Really. Both PoE and Diablo 3 in my book at this moment is a pointless 1 spam click game, PoE is worse in that matter though but we have a illusion about its much more complex then D3. But yet we still are in the same situation as in diablo 3 or even worse. Diablo 3 atleast have alot of viable builds with the outpicked ones you get, but in PoE you are kinda forced to go a specific path if you want to farm fast and with out dying. This is how i think atm. Diablo 3 = sucks. But has alot of potential. PoE = sucks. Have lost Its potential and i belive desync will never be gone, It will be a constant /oos macro fest. Or just alt+f4. Dont get me wrong, I've goten alot of plesurabe hours out of PoE. But considering they're heading in such a bad direction now and it will be hard to fix it. Fact is, they are a small company and many blames it on that they're a small company and stuff takes time. That makes me worry even more. Considering they've taken this path now, how long will it take to make it "right" again. I'm tired of hoping for a game to be good. Thats my summary how the game is currently. I really hope we get that CB felling back when AoF existed and build deversity wasnt just a commercial stunt. It really is now. " As I said, you loose interest for feedback in time because there is no positive reinforcement and just uncertainty. At least I saw that even PoE streamers start to prophecy the game's demise (I think it's their viewers going down :P). Maybe they have more traction with GGG, especially if they complain on reddit :) A very, very important thing many neglect is the HYPE. PoE enjoyed lots of hype and rode a big wave of euphoria on launch. The enthusiasm is all but lost now. After a month of pause, on my login I discovered that all my friends list was empty for an entire hour for example. Some guys stopped streaming the game and are back on D3, WoW or Neverwinter (...). Others just lurk forums and rarely log in. GGG should have capitalised on that positive hype wave. The Internet can make or break a product in a day, and PoE went basically viral, imagine, I was even able to talk a few former guildies into skipping raiding for PoE lol, and they wouldn't do that for their own mothers. Now we are between hype and meh. There is still room to steer PoE in the right direction, but it will take a huge effort. placeholder for creative sig Last edited by Undon3#5633 on May 8, 2013, 8:29:34 PM

The Short Version:
Maps is ALWAYS going to be the end game content, unless a new purely random instance system is put in place at the same or higher monster level as maps. Content will ALWAYS be finished before new content is available. A quick point that in somewhat counters the "maps is only temporary thing to do once you have finished the story content. More content is planned to be added every nine months". There will be a limit to the size of the new content. It will also be completed by players in less than 9 months. What system is still in place after that for us to mindlessly have fun killing shit. MAPS. Maps is the end game. It is now, it will be even with 9 monthly content increases. It is and will be THE random place to go and kill shit. Maps shouldn't be the currency sink. The crafting purpose behind all the 'currency items' should be fixed so that it is the true currency sink. I like maps. They are a fun thing to do. But having to farm for currency just to spend on some maps just to improve ever so slightly the chance for a map to drop inside the map, is boring as batshit. Great post Dragon, great ideas. |

@Stillsingle
Thanks mate. I appreciate it. I agree with you about maps being the endgame. At least, that is the impression I got while playing the game. Imagine my surprise to read otherwise from chris's post on reddit. Even if more content comes out, I think the general idea behind maps is what poe's endgame will always be. I too enjoy playing maps, but the effort that goes into it is just to punishing. It feels like a good idea taken way to far. Something has always bothered me about using the excuse of more content being on the way. Are we supposed to just quit playing our chars and wait for the new content? What stupid logic is that? It is around level 70 that our chars finally start to feel strong and overpowered and generally fun to play, and we are supposed to just quit and work on something else because, the game is not finished? That makes no sense to me. New content is supposed to give you new things to do, not allow you to progress your char past the barrier of previous content. Maybe I am wrong in feeling this way, but that is just how I look at things. Anyways, thanks for adding to the thread. I am super glad that people are taking time to voice their thoughts on endgame here. What's more, I am glad that so far everyone agrees with me. That always helps :) DISCLAIMER!

@undon3
This is exactly why I ask for other peoples input/feedback. You have an ability that I don't. You appear to be able to see the big picture and figure things out, while I just simply know that what I experienced in the last month was not fun. This sort of analysis and discussion, in theory, could help further our cause. Or it could be a HUGE waste of time. But seeing as how I have nothing but time atm, I say bring it on. Ofc, that mood is subject to change at any given time. If GGG just so happens to read this part, to them I say: please keep us informed. Like I posted a few posts back, if you were to come out and say that you have read our feedback but still consider the current endgame sufficient, then I would be free to find other places to spend my pathetic existence. Don't be afraid to piss people off GGG. Stringing us along is by far more aggravating than simply telling us that you like things the way they are. I humbly request an update on GGGs current thoughts on endgame and rng being a factor of it. Why do I get the feeling I won't get my wish ^_^ DISCLAIMER! " Everyone is just sick of giving good feedback. I used to write big posts trying to explain everything in depth. Now I just go "Sounds cool" |

" GGG has an agenda. I get the sense they might throw in little off shit here and there but for the most part they are doing what they have planned and might add the suggestions we put up later on. I feel like they are reading, taking notes but have no intention of adding anything we suggest any time soon. Finished 17th in Rampage - Peaked at 11th

I get that feeling too. Even though it would be a painful truth, I do wish they would say it. Ofc I no longer have delusions that GGG owes it to me blah blah blah. It would just be common courtesy on their part.
It is a real shame that players are at the point where they won't give good feedback anymore. GGG really dropped the ball there. If the beta wasn't meant for change and feedback, what was it for then? Exposure? Sometimes I am glad I don't have the ability to analyse these things. Now that it has been brought up again, I can't get it out of my head and I feel the green rage monster trying to surface. Preemptive strike! *Dragon crits beer for 2 Promise, no rage. Just interesting the general perspective of players that have been here much longer than I as being generally... beaten. I suppose demoralized is a better term. Sad. DISCLAIMER! " Maybe I'm just disillusioned. I just feel that things aren't actually being improved in terms of the areas that need it most. Certain problems with the game (not bugs like blood rage but actual issues) have been around since CB and Iare not even referenced in the manifesto as anything GGG is thinking of doing anything with |
