I came here from Diablo 3!!! [Please post here if you did as well!]

D3 forums brought me to this game. I have not been back. I even quit the forums (best part of D3 imo).

edit: "Mother did it have to be so high?"

having only played D3 on the public stress test, i cant comment on many of its aspects...oh sure...it's got purdy... but that only gets you so far...it's more refined...but that's just budget...i have no intention of purchasing Diablo III now...thanks to PoE

i remember when programs came printed on paper, and you had to actually copy it line by line onto the computer...and then debug a few times to find your errors...hell...i learned basic in no time there...i think it was in the summer of'82.(yea...i been gaming longer than a lot of you have been alive) newbs...lol

my first GUI game was Lands of Lore, followed by Dune 2000 (or vice versa)...eventually i came across something called 'Warcraft' series...man...not the first in the rts genre, but it was the best imho. still not sure how i rate W3 yet though

then buzzard came out with 'Starcraft'...same thing only different...but another winner none-the-less

and then Diablo series hit the streets...man...i was blown away by my first real hack-n-slash...kill/reward kill/reward...yea baby that's what i want!

i didn't get into WoW until '06, but buzzard pretty much got it right again, so i didn't really mind paying for the expansions at first...i have every class but druid...i only play now when the give me the 7 day teasers... they dumbed it down too much for me now (it used to be kinda rough to solo) wanna get more 9 year olds to play...same with D3 i guess

in '06 i also got into EveOnline...and that was a transition lemme tell you...i actually wondered if i could get a handle on this one...but after the initial learning curve peak its pretty easy...i'd be playing now it i had any cash...i love that sandbox

so...back to topic...
a buddy told me about PoE a few days before the last stress test...'a diablo clone, huh...yea...the vids look good...but they always make those look good'

so i started my research...and i liked what i saw...sure...there's nothing like going in cold, but sometimes reading is a good thing...so i got the client and waited for friday

that skill tree is what i couldn't say no to...i've never been intimidated by a skill tree before...i'll be damned if i'm gonna start now...lol (i'm glad Eve skills aren't treed though)

as an old guy, i don't really care about eye candy...i don't care if my avatar changes with new mods...i don't care about effects much either...nor story, voice-overs or lore...its the game-play i'm after...so i always option for pure performance anyway

i don't have any money...$100 here or there...so F2P is about the only way i can play now...and i've become real particular about who i give my cash to these days...Eve gets some...Fallen Earth got some...maybe Vindictus...

these guys, 'a no budget, no name, garage band', (never quoted myself before) will be first on my short list this time...even i can see potential here...despite any rough edges, lack of story, ear candy, etc it may have...

so yea...i'm itching for a beta key...i've posted on a few of the non-begging threads... but i'll have 10 bucks to spare soon enough...it will have been worth the wait

I actually started here probably 6 months ago. Built a new computer, and hadn't installed it.

I bought the Collector's Edition of Diablo 3, had a blast with the first run-through, then promptly got bored, and fired up Path of Exile again.

I still haven't been back to D3.

However, I'm slowly upgrading my Supporter Packs, as I absolutely love what GGG is doing with this game!
Wise words buff -> balance <- nerf , need to happen , deal with it
I came here from D3. This game feels sooo much more like D2 than D3 ever will. Just the dark atmosphere, the way skills look, feel, and are used... Maps.

There's also many improvements.. Like the way potions refuel themselves and have secondary effects. The skill tree is sooo much more creative and inspired. You can do almost anything you can dream up.

Sure, this game maybe doesn't cater to the mindless horde of idiots that jumped into the online gaming scene in recent years, but I think that's exactly what all of you and I are trying to avoid. We know how this type of game should play, and we're all here for a reason!

That being said, I think the most recent patch to come out for D3 (1.0.4 or something? the one with the paragon levels) really helped to even that game out and bump it up a notch or two. I'll at least play it a bit now, but this game is where it's at for me!

Hope to build some good relationships with a lot of you out there!

I as well came from d3.

d3 failed hard to live up to what made the series awesome.

PoE feels like what d3 should have been.
yesterday I played a few hours in the 1.0.4 patch of D3... but still crap... this weekend poe and sleeping dog

Yea, it's still boring as hell. They need to rework the whole game, they can't fix it otherwise.
Danskere: PM mig, hvis I har brug for en guild.
somebody should be held accountable for what was done to the diablo series. the linearity of the character development and in-game progress reminds me of arcade games of nineties. childish art of the game robs it of the great dark semi horror feel that diablo 1 had. if that wasnt enough to kill the series the developers of d3 shamelessly made the game money making oriented.
game experience of d3 can be explained as hell bovine from diablo 2, avatars are all the same and we are all being milked for money .
great disappointment for a long time fan.
id love to give poe a try. beta key anyone?

I see a lot of people say this and I just don't see it. Whymsyshire seems to be the only level that fits this description and its meant to be ridiculous.

My first play through of the game was very enjoyable. It just doesn't feel like a game worth playing over and over though. The item system is too random and ungenerous. The auction house was just..I don't even know, I don't care about the rmah, but the gold one even is just borked, and all they had to do was copy their own design from WOW. The insane difficulty scaling bothered me at first, as it did in the later patches of D2, but I suppose its to be expected.

On its own, maybe named "Satano III, a wow diversion" I think it would've been a pretty good throw away game, but it doesn't feel like Diablo (in game play, I have no issues with the story other than Leah getting screwed over and forgotten like a used rubber)

So I stopped playing, but saw this new game POE being pimped in the forums, and I'm glad I checked it out. Very few complaints about it, those being the necessity to run to town often in order to make any "currency" and the instanced worlds, I don't hate it but I feel lonely often as party's always seems to get split up, could just be bad luck.
