I came here from Diablo 3!!! [Please post here if you did as well!]

I am from Diablo 3 as well. I learned this game from there. I love this game. This is awesome!

I too gave up on D3. Didn't like the feel or being tied to a quest. Downloading PoE beta right now ;-)

I blindly bought Diablo 3 (what a Blizzdrone I was ... I'm ashamed)

I mean, why wouldn't I, I LOVED Diablo 2 and played it for sooo many years. On and off at one point, but still, I've spent so many hours on it. Building new chars, Mephisto farming, rushing some low levels that needed the boost, trading with my friends, Baal runing when I wanted to chill and just "chat" while I was spamming Frozen Orb, playing hardcore with my assassin, trying to make some low level runewords, ...
I remember the joy of dropping my first Shako, I heard about it in the chat and when I dropped one, I just jumped up and down for a good minute. Oh, I can also remember my first "Titans" and "Lidless Wall". Ahhh, good times. How could I have forgotten the Cow Runs ! Running around trying not to get surrounded.

So, back to Diablo 3. After the oh soooo long installation (weird, but well ...) and the server errors, I finally started playing. I enyoyed the beginning ! Discovering the new skills and so on. I played with just my brother so that we could go at our own pace.

At first, I was happy with the game ! Cool skills and monster bashing goodness. But, the more I played, the less "joy" I felt. The story has many lame bits (ugh Maghda, just go back in WoW where you belong ...) but, I don't mind that in an ARPG. What really disapointed me was the items ... None of them made me "dream" like before ! I could no longer say to my self "I have to build this new char to try this item on him". I then checked online to see if I was just missing something concerning the items, and I saw tons of post complaning about the itemization ! Crappy legendary's and set items that never drop ... As there are no more skill/attribute points, I was hoping for amazing itemization to compensate.

I mean, I don't mind farming but, I remember dropping uniques in Diablo 2 after 40h of playing (even if they were low level uniques of course). But, in Diablo 3, 60h for 1 legendary item ... with just "basic stats".

Anyways, I'm impressed I put 60h in the game. I wanted to play "selfdrop", no AH, just trading like the good old days. And ... that didn't get me far ...

My brother is in Inferno Act III with his Barb and he got there only thanks to the AH ... He now has to farm gold, ridiculous amounts of it, just to upgrade one of his items in order to advance in Act III.
I remember playing in Nightmare in Diablo 2 and getting gear that I would be able to use in Hell. I don't see that hapenning in Diablo 3.

Then, one day, I read Bashiok's post about the drop rates. Because of the Auction House, drop rates were lowered so that it wouldn't be "overflown" with items. Therefore, inciting the players to use the AH to get their gear. But I WON'T FEEL ANYTHING IF I BUY ITEMS(with gold, no way am I paying real € for D3 items).

I just don't feel the Magic with D3. I'm not "trapped in D2 nostalgia", I don't mind change at all, as long as I have fun. I wanted to play D3 for years ... Building new chars and farming for epic loot with my friends. That gamer dream was crushed ...

Then, a beacon of light appeared in the D3 Forums. Some disapointed fans were talking about Torchlight and PoE. I knew Torchlight 2 wasn't going to have "online storage" for characters, meaning that I would have to play with "trusted friends" only if I want to be sure our chars are "legit". So, I typed "Path Of Exile" in google and pressed enter !

That's when I started to regain hope ! I liked everything the devs wrote !! Unlike the D3 forums, they are here, with us, on the forums! I read so many good things that I took the Bronze Supporter pack without hesitation.

I'm soooo happy with PoE right now :D The more I play, the more I read these forums, the more I know this game is the one !!!

The "build of the week" and "End game Maps" videos made my jaw drop in front of my monitor. I can write down so many thing that I love in this game, but, it's already here on this website :D I'm going to upgrade to Silver (and maybe Gold) this month!


I can feel the "magic" when I play PoE, and that's what I want !

I'd like to say a big "Thank You" to the devs and the community ! You are creating a masterpiece !

(I've also rewired my brain to not auto-buy blizz games ...)

I loved Diablo 1&2 and I felt totally disappointed with Diablo 3 after years of waiting. D3 has nothing that made originals so great. Diablo games are known for thier dark gothic atmospehere/music and story . Diablo 3 has none, it felt more like a cheap hack n slash version of WOW if anything.

I tried POE this weekend and I am finding this game way better than D3 in almost every single way.
