You are right, I didn't read the thread. But I am using -swa alrdy, sadly the audio quality gets worse (it's ok if u disable ambient sounds). I hope it still gets fixed.

I'm having this issue since I switched to an X-Fi a couple of weeks ago.

The software audio switch does nothing for me, it still keeps crashing. For now, the only thing to do it seems, is throw out the X-Fi. :(

Are you sure you typed the shortcut argument correctly?

I notice that a lot of times, people who have problems don't type it correctly. They usually do something like -softwareaudio which is not correct, since the softwareaudio version requires two dashes so it says --softwareaudio. If you want to use only one dash, then it's just -swa.

Please provide the exact shortcut you're using so it can be checked.

The other option is to attempt to disable sound completely using --nosound.

--softwareaudio THIS, did it for me. Thanks a alot! :D Using Windows 7 64bit and Steam version
I had this problem during days and today I found this problem when entering The Crematorium in act 3 some times (but not the first time ¬¬) and searching I found this thread.

I habe done some testing and I think -swa will work for me.

What a mess this creative sound blaster gamer, first BSOD (fixed updating drivers) and now this...

One question, what is exactly the difference between using software or hardware audio? I suppose we will have more CPU usage, but anything we could hear? For example 2.0 sound (software) instead of 5.1 (hardware)? Some sounds/music not playable/muted?

Thanks in advance!

I just got this problem too. I thought some files were corrupted so i checked the files on Steam but everything was okay.

Then i found this thread and i now know it was because i switched the sound from my classic output (chipset realtek 97') to my headset which is controlled by... an old Creative X-Fi card o/.

I read about the --softwareaudio command, what does it do exactly ?
At least, it seems to fix the problem.

I just got this game through Steam and had the same problem. After reading this thread I fixed it by right clicking on it, going to properties, clicked "Set Launch Options...", and added "--softwareaudio" there and hit OK.
Hi Folks,

As of December 03, 2015 .....

Just wanted to post a more current response to the "Decoded no data" problem and listed solutions :

I have an older System -
Dell Pentium 4 CPU running at 3.40 gighz
4 gigs memory
Creative SB Audigy 2 sound card
Nvidia GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS video

I, too was seeing the various "Decoded no data " - different .ogg files error when trying to start the game.

The "-swa" option added to the shortcut worked perfectly (so far :)

I did NOT try the "--softwareaudio" option, but the -swa did work.

pleas don't necro a 3 year old thread...it's nice that it worked for you but at this point the relevant info is in the stickies and this thread can be left alone.

also -swa and --softwareaudio are the same thing.
