(June 16/17) Hardcore Ladder Race with more prizes.

This is a temporary three hour hardcore league with more prizes than normal. We've changed the prizes to see how it affects player behaviour. It's best to find out what the best prize levels are during the Closed Beta so that any economic damage is wiped away when we enter Open Beta. Having said that, I think a decent level of prizes are necessary to reward people for their skill and hard work participating in events like these.

The event will run from 9am to 12noon New Zealand time on Sunday (June 17 2012). This is 2pm Saturday, Pacific time. Here is a link for more time zone conversions.

The league will be hardcore. Characters who die will be moved out of this league and into the Default league. NEW CHARACTERS MUST BE CREATED IN THIS LEAGUE TO BE ELIGIBLE. After the end of the league, they'll be moved back into the normal Hardcore or Default league depending on whether they died. The league will be open for character creation 30 minutes before the start of the competition.

Prizes:
At the end of the tournament, we will award the prizes in the Hardcore league on a character that we add to your account. If you want to transfer these prizes to the Default league, then just kill that character.

Miscellaneous:
The game version will be whatever the current 0.9.10 version is (probably 0.9.10e). Please note that because this is a hardcore league, a single death can disqualify you.

Our decision on the winners is final. Bugs and mistakes will get in the way for many players and this is why we are running an event like this. If you lose your ability to participate due to a bug, please tell us about it and we'll do our best to fix it. We can't change the outcome of the event due to this.

Good to see casual prizes as well; encourages more participation. :)

GGG has forgotten where they came from. As a result, I no longer support the deceitful, corporate Tencent slave sellouts running this game.
If you win anything, you lose it when open beta hits, right?

Yes, except for the unique amulets which are retained!

I like the look of the level-based rewards, hopefully it will be viable and not produce too many currency items for the economy to handle.

Haven't been competitive in a while but I know I can level up at least!
Another one I won't be able to make 8(

GL then, till next time!

Bah, starts right when I have to go to work.

I was worried and thought about this as well. I don't think this will inflate the economy too much since the race takes 3 hours to complete and in that time, most players could grind out these amounts of currency just by playing in their parent league.

The only potential problem is that the currencies are awarded with equal weighting. So the same number of valuable currencies such as exalted orbs will be introduced into the economy as lesser ones such as fusings, chances, etc. But I still think the inflation will be minimal and I'm sure it is something GGG has considered.

But this "problem" is also a great draw for people since it gives a higher chance of receiving the more rare currencies. It will have to be a balancing act to keep the economy in check while also making the races attractive for players of all skill levels.

I'm very happy for these new allocation rules. It allows casuals and newcomers to participate without changing the race dynamics for the more competitive and knowledge players.

Am I just ignorant, or is it really possible to hit level 29 and blow through all of normal in 3 hours? Hmm.

It's just a nice dream, unless 0.9.10e has some major balance changes I doubt anyone will make even level 27.

Very exciting to see changes around the ladder prizes and interesting to see the impact on participation.
