How To Dunk Like Jordan! (Physical CI Melee for Dummies!)(Ridiculous Survivability and Damage)

Just want to drop by and say hello.

I absolutely love this build. Still far off from being able to switch to CI completely, from what I see I need at least 6-7 free points (have to get Vaal pact, ghost reaver and those nodes after CI in one go or I'll be in trouble).

Right now Lvl 56, farming the ledge before for awhile before moving on. With shitty gear I am able to clear this map in 3-4 minutes (minus the boss I have shitty lightning resist), mostly in 3 minutes.

The most expensive item I bought so far is carnage heart (like you said it is a must have). Having that makes my templar runs better (lets hope GGG wont nerf it). Other items are about 1-2 chaos each. Trying to get Dreamfragment, but that eludes me so far.

IMO, flicker + multistrike just invites desync more. I tried it before, I was rubber banding badly. But if your connection is good, it is nice to use. Another viable aoe opiton for newbies is sweep + IAoE + inc melee damage. Simple to use, easy on mana, easy-to-get skills, good dmg output but restricted to maces and axes. Added with multistrike....wooo. Leapslam into mob..sweep.

Sweep invites death too much because you can't move while using it, when you start using a slower mace for more effective damage you can get killed by archers easily. At least that is my experience with it TBH. And I doubt Carnage will ever be nerfed considering it is extremely balanced (you lose maybe 300-500 ES for it, more at more ES totals), and it really is just that good. And yeah 6-7 points sounds about right.

Thanks for answering :)

73 now but no luck with the rng yet :)

Bump!

What league are you in? If you are in default I have some pieces I have "grown out of" I can gift you if you'd like/if they are better than what you have :p

Deciding between making this character in Hardcore, RoA max-attack speed elemental Marauder, or Spellcrit Shadow for the week race. Currently leaning towards the Marauder since I think CI gear may be too hard to acquire in the one month :/

Sorry for the late response :)

Appreciate it, but ive managed to aquire some decent items now, except gloves, but im still looking. :)

lvl 76 now and about to respec! So will be exciting :)

.

Very interested in this build but I have never played Templar before and have no idea about how to build a character I can have fun with until level 70+ before switching over to this without spending a ton of respec points.

Would appreciate a detailed as possible breakdown on how this could be done.

@Midnightgem: You said you might have such a build that needed approx. 15 respec points - which would be totally fine for me.

I really don't want to have to limp along for 70 levels before being able to try this build!

All advice appreciated, but please try to provide fairly detailed explanations or point to any relevant posts.

Remember I am a Templar noob :)

I tend to play solo, or 2 man groups - how viable is this for those and what is the clearing speed like solo?

The clearing speed for this build is insane. When people in this thread talk about 1 shotting packs, they mean it. You basically just leap around demolishing things. I am currently working on a step-by-step guide to leveling but it takes a while and I am short on time. If you know the basics of ele cleave and wander you could probably go through those. No guarentees but I will try to have a leveling section completed by the end of Saturday.

Would a Marohi Erqi be good for this spec or too slow?

They already discussed it on page 7-8, you might wanna head there for info. IMO i tried with a 0.95 aspd maul, too slow. Plus you could find or craft a better maul with 1.2 aspd.

Depends, its debatable, y135lc's comment is best for that.

But on the other hand, I think 1.05+ AS is enough to not be too slow, as with haste and IAS gloves it becomes more than fast enough while allowing you to use a Karui Maul with insane top ends. Marohi might be doable with IAS rings, gloves, and maybe the IAS boots? Would need a strong chest/helm to coverup the ES weakness though.

The ONLY downside about flicker is the desync. If this game had no desync, Flicker melee CI would be most powerful solo build in game known to man.
Love this build!!! Currently only lvl 69 but trucking along
