Why I love Diablo 3

People on this forum have been hating on Diablo 3 ever since it got announced, and mostly because this is free and Diablo 3 is not. I think Diablo 3 is a pretty good game and knowing Blizzard they will hopefully patch it as often as possible.

No offence, but that is a gross simplification of the matter. Even a casual scan of this forum will reveal much more substantial reasons given for 'hating on Diablo 3' than 'this is free, D3 isn't'.

Hence the use of "mostly".

no, the difference is only;
online-free game for a intended arpg/mmo , wich has bugs but is still in beta, and it's free forever with no advantage in-game for using money
vs
online-not free game for a intended arpg single/multiplayer, wich has bugs and it's released from almost 1 month now, and it's no free and have alot of advantage for who uses realy money

the rest is pure speculation/fanboism

Why does it matter if there are bugs??? That has absoultely nothing to do with the issue. Same goes for advantages of using real money.
It doesn't even tangent the issue.
You are just taking some cheap shots at D3, and then call me a fanboy... Ridiculous.

oh, and PoE is more of a single player game than D3.

And I think this is a fair complaint. Same price, same IP, but with what many of us considered an essential feature of the series sudden;y absent...while a new feature, the auction house/real money auction house, is equally suddenly present.

But you don't really think it's an essential feature, do you? If you did, it's unlikely that you would have paid so much money for PoE.

SC2 is always online and has no AH, so you can just drop those ridiculous speculations right away.

SC2 is not always online, you can play campaign in offline mod

Quite to the contrary, I played SC2 *only* offline/single player. I don't recall having to log into Battle.net to play it.

As for the essential feature? Yes, I do believe offline mode is essential for a Diablo game simply because, hey, error 37! We all saw that coming. It's a wildly popular game that should function perfectly well offline. Path of Exile, on the other hand...dude, why do you keep making me iterate the differences between PoE and D3 and why one should be online-only and the other not? It's getting old. Seriously.

But let me add this: PoE is by its nature niche; GGG know this better than anyone. They've fairly carefully escalated the server load, and I've no reason to believe they'll suddenly get reckless at open beta. Therefore, unlike your experience with D3 upon release, I have little fear of Path of Exile becoming unplayable upon 'release'. This is just one more reason why PoE being online only is far less of a problem than D3.

So yes, I do think offline-only was an essential part of Diablo 1 and 2, and have more than enough experience to maintain this belief. It was essential to D3 getting excellent scores not just from the critics but from its many players as well.

Because offline Diablo 3 would have more than enough content to keep me busy for quite some time; Path of Exile, not so much. It is, and I embrace this, a work in progress, a continually developed product. That is what I paid for. It's what I get. I'm 100% happy with it.

...Are you 100% happy with Diablo 3?
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

Because it's the point that actually matters here.
If an offline is essential to you in D3, then why isn't it essential in PoE? It have the exact same effect on you in both games.

So that's what it's about, not being able to log in the day the game is launched? Well, that is irrelevant now as that time has passed.

PoE is free, so there will be tons of people playing it. They can probably cope with less than a percent of the D3 server load, so I see lots of reason to believe that PoE will have problems with full servers.

Yes I am.
All of my friends love D3, they get mad that I stopped playing it. When they ask why, I tell them that it's because I know in the back of my mind that at any time I can just jump on the AH and buy items that are better than anything I have, or could craft.

When I say that, they respond with, "well, you can trade items in D2, and that's part of the game. D3 just simplified the process and made it so that the trading pool was much much larger, and easier to participate in."

And you know what? They are right! But, nonetheless, I find my time in D3 more about looking for gold to use on the AH than getting excited over the possibility of finding a great item, I don't want to play the greatest "flea-market" simulator ever.

"the premier Action RPG for hardcore gamers."

Starting today, in order to add to your Battle.net Balance, players will be required to have a Battle.net Authenticator or Battle.net Mobile Authenticator attached to their Battle.net account. For clarity, this means you’ll need to have an Authenticator to add to your balance via Battle.net Account Management or to send the proceeds of your real-money auction house sales to your Battle.net Balance.

People are generally shit at handling their account security, so I don't really see why this is bad?

You just proved you are biased as hell.. It's free, and overall, it's fantastic move..if they would force this app to everyone, all of these "I was hacked and it's your fault blizzard" threads would vanish into the history.
