Hi, Everyone,
Not to be redundant as much of what I was thinking was already said in this thread. However, I do enjoy this game and, quite honestly, I like this league to a certain degree (finding recipes, etc). Perhaps the main reason POE's numbers and community engagement has faltered a little may be due to system overlapping/overloading. Don't get me wrong, the systems (i.e., Delve, Harvest, etc..) are fun but if we have too many ingredients in the mix the end result is confusion, frustration leading to eventual boredom. I know at times I want to run a few Mavens but forget to click that button to allow "witnessing", or click on this and that to allow certain elements to exist (Alva, Bestiary, etc..). That frustrates me because it is wasted currency and time albeit totally my fault for not "clicking" but still time wasted. My first opinion (and just that opinion): can POE have a league mechanic that evolves over the course of the league? For example, have a league similar to metamorph where you make your own outcome either by means of final boss fight, map progression, or crafting options. In addition, new mechanics need to flow with mapping instead of having to stop-read and then decide. I think this is why breach is/was so popular because it "just happened" and you have to deal with it on the fly. My opinion, number 2, is POE's crafting is too RNG and a time sink. I get it, the idea is to be RNG and to avoid "everyone" achieving the "ultimate" gear too soon, or too often, leading to power creeping. However, why POE doesn't allow for a more simpler "targeting" crafting system befuddles me. I know, your thinking Harvest is like this, but is it really? After the nerfs? My opinion, number 3, POE has way to much junk dropping from mobs. I get into a map with quant of 113% with high rarity and 108% of it is junk. Why? Could POE have a system that will drop loot that is relevant to the iLVL of the map being run? Why do I need Geoffrey's crest when I am lvl 96 2 months into a league? My opinion, number 4, POE still has too much "clicking" for stuff. I know they made changes recently to minimize all the clicking we do, but I still find 100s of clicks when picking of breach stones and other things still. I don't have a fifth opinion, so rejoice :) Well, I do, but it's about implimenting an auction house, but that's well discussed on these forms already. I will end here by saying POE is a great game and I've played it since 2017, and even though I am a terrible player (just killed Maven this league..LOL) I can say despite the areas I identified above, POE remains a solid game. Thanks, Seebeu |

" Best way to do it! I did not intentionally research the meta but a friend suggested I do Hoarfrost Stomp/Katana/Mimic which broke the game (which was the meta before it was nerfed hard), and made it a lot less fun on my first full playthrough. I am redoing it now your way (no research on build or locations) and it is much better than before. I am discovering SO much content I missed. The feeling of exploring that world ... I haven't had a gaming experience like that in a long time. |

" Dude. I leveled this league using freezing pulse and had no issues at all anywhere in the quest line. In fact most bosses were less than 10 seconds. I was just using a shitty reverberation wand for spell echo. I had no guard skills and no offensive auras. 2 le heups, icetomb, other garbage like gold rim. By Innocence I was over 47k dps 4l and by Kitava I was over 297k dps. My guess is you linked every single possible decreased damage support you could and no added damage supports, trying to fan out with GMP. You don’t need to fan out Freezing Pulse. Single projectile with spell echo + Herald of Ice is devastating and clears way outside the reach of a single projectile. Ice bite + Added cold and some way to gain power charges was just op this league. The added damage was unreal. Especially if crit and cast speed. If I wanted to use my Crystallized Omniscience instead of Whispering Ice, I’d still be Freezing pulse, and atm I can easily bypass 210% Cold res on that build, so easy kills. You kind of chose the wrong skill to argue weak on this time. |

MY STORY: GAME TOO COMPLICATED, BLOATED ALSO. sO I QUIT

" I hate oversimplification because quite frankly, most games are more complicated than players would like. A few of us are declaring Elden ring a wonderful game, but that doesn’t mean it’s not complicated. There’s almost no quest guidance, even though there are at least 6 mainline quests that must be done in sequence, and at least 30 NPCs which establish specific quest chains depending on if you help them, kill them, or do a little of both and affect hypotenuse characters. Using magic is extremely restrictive because you must have a staff or a seal equipped to cast and you really need a shield, so it’s really hard to be melee and caster. The world and drops are mindblowingly complex to the point where it’s easy to get lost and cliffs are always in your way. Range isn’t a concept that is homogenous. Some events are night only. Some mobs are designed to kill you in various ways if you fight them wrong (marionettes will hit you 8 times in a row destroying your stamina and ability to block. Vamps will sing to lul you into thinking there’s a friendly box nearby, then suck your neck for over90% of your life while applying poison. Many mobs outright vomit magma which is almost impossible to avoid but burns you over time, and those mobs are usually thrashing attacking disasters without their fire. Some mobs home in and never miss. Some cast large and relentless magic. There are debuffs that will outright death you. Creating and choosing weps are too diverse and a lot of farming needed. Many mobs are designed to never be fought at all. You pretty much can’t wear good armor and be agile at all, because you need to be less than 60% carrying capacity to be considered medium weight and not take movement penalties. Without a wiki you won’t find half the items that make you strong. |

It's probably too simple a reduction but I think of Elden Ring as 'complex' rather than 'complicated'.
'Complex' can have lots of moving parts but you generally only need to engage with a few at a time. You can dig deeper and the game will reward you for it, but you don't HAVE to to enjoy it. The desire to engage with its complexity arises from being seduced by its seeming simplicity. 'Complicated', on the other hand, is an Avril Lavigne song about Grinding Gear Games. I like quiet fora, for the record. Elite gamers like me stand out more, and let's be honest -- that's all that really matters. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between. I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. Last edited by Foreverhappychan#4626 on Mar 30, 2022, 11:34:03 PM

" Some people are spoiled. I played beastiary, synthesis, (and very briefly) the original harvest. I remember the master missions and having to pvp for leo and only because of leo. I would have rather just enjoyed my standard but this was the first league (that I've been around for) where I actually liked almost all of the reward cosmetics. Not that I even really use them, but couple that with not having to sort standard tabs, well there ya go. Yep, totally over league play.

" I don't know what's the joy with cosmetics. That's akin to enjoying dressing barbie. If rewards were stash tabs, I might actually find it rewarding. Of course of course business is business. IDK what's so spoiled but when trade is dead, there's little point playing. Furthermore, everyone got geared too easily this league. `Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
`From just quick sweep of your characters, toxic rain, golems .. sure, non meta... sure.` LOL `What are divs?` |
