Lost Ark is POE Killer

the only real time gated content is abyssal dungeons, everything else you can jump in countless times but after the first 2 of each mode, the drop rates are much lower

so technically you can only do 2 chaos dungeons each day but if you just keep doing them you eventually get the rewards you want lol

also when you hit lv50, youre like 10% done with the questing its crazy, so even if you finish your dailies, you can just go back to questing
Damn, lost ark holds my hand hard and tbh it feels ok but at the same time the challenge is pretty much zero. Skipping 90% of conversations too since it's a lot of bloatware. Not pay to win so far but it's korean mmo so the wall will come for sure.

QOL through the roof though, crazy good UI and mechanics, I wouldn't mind if GGG stole some of those ideas for patch 4.0.0

Pretty hard to come back to PoE after putting 24 hours in Ark, best effort in recent years to a good (mmo) rpg.

This is an interesting aspect of LA. The early leveling and endgame progression are indeed rather easy (story in particular). The game tries its best to show you the ropes, teach various systems and introduce mechanics at a slow rate, to help you understand them.

However, once the training wheels are off, the game becomes really hard. And not just in terms of one-shot mechanics, that you are suppoused to know, but in overall mechanical skill of being able to dodge attacks while maintaining damage on the boss and being in-place at the right time to execute a mechanic. If they dropped it all at once on new players, there is no way people would stick with it, it would be like PoE but worse in terms of retention. People already struggle doing public runs of early abyss dungeouns, which are still realtively easy compared to top endgame content. So I perfectly understand why they made the on-boarding process slow and easy, to not scare away the majority of players. The obvious drawback is that more hardcore players can drop off too early, thinking the game never becomes challenging, or not willing to wait for it to get challenging.

EDIT. Oh and reagarding QOL I agree 100%. After PoE it felt so good to have a proper auction house, autoloot (so that I don't have to click 100 times on crap like in PoE mapping), large inventory with auto-sort and auto-dismantle options, ability to reduce effect intensity, etc.

I don't know if it will kill PoE, but it does seriously damage it at the moment.

Just a quick check on Steam right now:

Lost Ark players playing now: 635,000

PoE players playing now: 37,000

So no matter how many use the standalone client, judging from the Peak of ...~230k at the 3.17 launch officially stated by GGG, there is a MASSIVE difference.

Some friends already moved to Lost Ark after about a 7-10 days playing 3.17. Maybe I'll try it but I don't seem to like what I see so far.

IT ISN'T EVEN THE SAME GENRE.

It's isometric so people think same-ish. I don't even!

Sure but lets not exist in a world that doesn't believe that the same folks that play PoE dont also play LA. What does it matter what actual genre or box it fits in, if it competes directly for the player population?

If still persistence in 1% game balance and loot performance issues and killing melee builds too. POE cant long survive more.

It might compete for players attention but so does Cyberpunk 2077 or Doom Eternal. I mean...why not make threads about those games? Point is they are two different genres, yet everyone compares the two. It makes ZERO sense.

Agreed. At this point may as well point out what media competes for most people's attention, and that's probably Netflix.

I think it makes alot of sense actually. Just compare the players numbers of blight league, when it launched together with wow classic. And now the numbers are tanking heavily once again due to another mmo start. The current poe expansion isnt even bad, its quite good actually but it just isnt enough to compete with those mmo launches.
