Quin69 twitch ban

My biggest gripe is everyone, including Quin, saying they were 'banned'.

It's not a frikkin ban when you're back in X amount of days. Stop that click bait trash.

Technically Boem is not banned here, he's probated. For well over a year now...

But hey, it's just "X amount of days". I'm sure he'll be back at some point...

The discussions in here are a perfect example of why people like Quin69 need to be dealt with harshly.

Speaking as a male gamer, the vast majority of us are toxic towards women and actively push women away from gaming. FFXIV was one of the most female-friendly MMOs in a while, and yet even after streaming it heavily Asmongold said his audience is still over 98% males. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that over 99% of Quin's audience is males. Gaming has heavily trended towards attracting female gamers over the years, and yet the largest gaming communities on Twitch have almost no female viewers.

The bottom line is, most male gamers are creepy. As soon as they find out a player is a woman, they start sending them friend requests and asking to chat. If a woman tries to use a mic in a voice-chat game, she'll be instantly flooded with creepy dudes trying to get their shot in. Just watch a Twitch stream for an hour and watch how many more messages towards female streamers have to be mod-deleted than male streamers.

Telling your collection of creepy gamers that women are asking for it by dressing a certain way is dangerous. You're not only continuing to make gaming comfortable for female gamers, but you're telling a bunch of horribly adjusted trolls that sexual assault has grey areas. They don't. The comment he made was gross, unacceptable, and he knows it. You could see it in his body language as he said it, and he made a video discussing how it wasn't right to say.

If anything, he should be banned permanently. Sexual assault jokes have no place on Twitch, especially when you're telling them to an audience of 10,000 males, most of whom are poorly adjusted and already harass women.

I could keep linking studies but I think only the most hardened male gamer would debate whether women are constantly harassed online at this point.

Edit: going to end this conversation since you decided to edit your original post with gender memes. Clearly I hit a nerve.

I don't agree with his take, though theres probably merit to it just being very poorly articulated/thought out. I do find it funny and odd that he got banned for 2 weeks for an opinion, misconstrued or not, when others have been banned for far less time, for...much more egregious mistakes on stream.

All three of your studies don't make the same claim you do. All they do is conduct a survey of female gamers to find out if they have experienced harassment (defined as pretty much anything they don't like, such as "patronizing comments", which is well beyond your claim that it's all creepy sexual harassment). The self-selection bias inherent in that approach is obvious - you're looking for victims.

Nevertheless, the main problem is this - they only show that female gamers face harassment, not that "the vast majority of us are toxic towards women" or "most male gamers are creepy" or "most of whom are poorly adjusted and already harass women". Those are claims about the male gaming population, not the female one. Even if only a minority of male gamers harassed women, you could still find the results from your studies. Your claim is that the majority of male gamers are 'toxic' (however you're going to define that term...), yet your proof for that is that surveys of female gamers show they've experienced toxicity? That's like saying the majority of the air is oxygen based on asking oxygen-breathing creatures like us if we've breathed in oxygen. Of course we have! We wouldn't be here otherwise. But as we know, the composition of the air is mostly NOT oxygen. Ditto your studies.

If you want to prove the majority of male gamers are toxic, you're gonna have to do that, not some roundabout survey seeking women who don't feel welcomed.

Women will harass other women far more often than men do, you just hard to tell the difference in a chat-room.

However there is an epedemic of simping men out there who´d rather lick dogshit off a females heel than ever daring to harass them.
Women know that and built entire careers relying on this fact.

Good lord, I can feel your hatred towards women coming through the screen. Why does it bother you how other people spend their money?
