Still upset with the gem, back to playing ranged and found a pretty insane build to boot.

But I had to comment on this. With a 5l marohi you basically have IB 6l as you still have the mana cost multiplier from IAOE. 95 mana/cast is nothing, with marohi I assume you aren't even over 3 APS either. Try out FP with just LMP, costs like 150 mana/cast and you're getting like 3-5 aps.

I didn't realize how stupid mana is in this game until I left melee and BM behind.

wellI I was trying to mention the mana problems when a build doesn't use eldrich battery/mana leech gem

addressing the crit builds... my character or most characters running this as templar or marauder have a very difficult time not using resolute technique(can't crit).

and I might add that I don't think you can attack anywhere fast enough for mobs to be shocked stacked long enough. And out of curiosity, what is your damage?

I'm going to make a spread sheet because it's very hard to determine the true damage from the skill combination with infernal Blow just from the tool tip. will post back results

Currently i have 13K tooltip aoe dps (phys+hatred) as dual dagger crit ci shadow (lvl72). Phys reflect is covered by granite flask+blood rage+endurance charges. I have +56% increased aoe for Melee Splash (20% from gem, 20% from Templar, 16% from Witch). This cost me 55 mana per second that is fully covered by 2% manaleech from Mind Drinker passive.
I must say i love Melee Splash. This gem is very build specific, but when you have a build for it it really does wounders.

Does anyone know the base radius of Melee Splash? I know that it's rather small but I wanted to calculate how big it can be to decide if a build I'm planning will work, otherwise I'll have to change the splash effect for elemental proliferation.

Does melee splash with infernal blow apply the buff to all enemies hit?

Is it just me, or are critical strikes with this gem appears to have a larger aoe radius?
I'm at Cruel Act 2 and after a lot of effort and some luck, I'm using an Infernal Blow Q20% and a Melee Splash Q20%.

My Templar is currently LV44 and I only got the Templar AoEs (+20%). So a total of +60%.

AoE-wise, as I could expect, it's pretty great. The damage is just not that good on some Blue and better mobs. I use a Brightbeak (unique fast hammer) and a shield.

With Auras active, IB+MSplash+WeaponElementalDamage+ManaLeech I'm at 1550 DPS.

Rare and unique mobs can take a really long time (again I'm in Cruel act 2).

I wonder if I'll have to get another skill for serious single target damage. :- /

EDIT: I reinforce that Melee really has survivability issues even at Cruel Act 2.
I have about 35% armor damage reduction, 34% Block Chance, 1.100 Life and 80% all resists, but things can easily get out of control (mostly because I don't kill stuff fast enough).

Was kind of disappointed the first time I tried the gem, but now that I know that I know the actual mechanics of it, kind of even more disappointed. Just tested the exact range using lvl 1 elemental proliferation, honestly, it's pretty terrible and needs buffs, otherwise it requires heavy investment into AoE nodes, which, in turn, reduces survivability a lot due to fewer access to defensive nodes, which seems kind of counter-intuitive for melee. Also, with such poor range, why would anyone switch from something like ground slam? I'd increase the range to at least double, to be honest.
