[3.24] Holy Flame Totem Scion -- League Starter -- HC / SSF viable

Is it a good idea to respec into crit blazing salvo to increase the DPS further?
I was thinking to play holy flame totem first and farm crit gear in the meanwhile.

Just looking at blazing salvo Hiero builds, they do way more DPS.

This is what I'd do today if I was playing on SC and wanted to go for more DPS:

It's not a min-max, but got it to 6M DPS and still kept some of its defenses. I stacked auras for more damage, with Devouring Diadem and using Eldritch Battery with Divine Blessing trick to add another aura. Note that you can even use MoM to still use energy shield, but I don't know how comfortable that would be, so I didn't add this.

Looks nice! Would ditch the grand spectrums tho for forbidden jewels with chieftain ascendency, they are like 40C total, easy to get on trade.

Ok, so I've been playing HFT Scion in gauntlet, got to level 82 so far... Don't think I'll have much time to play in the following days, so I wanted to share the progress and build here:

Made some changes due to it being the gauntlet. I took long to go to Ancestral Bond so that I could get more life in the way. Took even longer to pick Elemental Overload, after maps, due to the same reason. And changed the pathing, instead of going templar starting tree, into Prismatic Skin because it's a great defense.

Next steps would be getting Anointed Flesh, and try to craft suppression gear and pick Magebane and Reflexes to get 100% suppression, again, because it's gauntlet and needed even more defenses.

Edit: Well, now I won't advance no more, just RIP'd xD :'(

I've never played totem builds and barely played scion, but POB shows 5k life at level 95. Is it really considered tanky, or am I missing some of the defense layers

For SC Trade? It is, unless you want to do ubers.
For HC SSF there are other options in POB for tree, items and skill gems.


As every other build, it is possible to lean to one side or the other, as you can see in my previous post, where I went full defense for the Gauntlet.

Mostly because totems costs a lot of mana. If you use Vitality aura, it has fixed reservation, so % mana helps with that as well.

If you use Devouring Diadem, you can cut all mana nodes.
