An Unexpected Consequence of A New Generation of Gaming Hardware.

TL:DR Go buy a new modem if your game is lagging that badly it will blow your mind

So just a few months ago we got the 3080's and such from Nvidia, cool, whatever. There was shortly before that a new generation of CPU's from Intel. An industry trend of "Ray Traced this and that" and "DLSS" and quite a few other programming and procedural innovations happened in gaming generally speaking. The cumulative result, the sum of all of these parts... Stunning improvements in visual quality. IRL, I'm 33. My first video game was Duck Hunt/Super Mario the combo cartidge (Any Boomers Smile). In 2021 video games crossed a line in visual quality that I sincerely never imagined. Video games are legitimately breathtaking... To me its literally emotionally moving.

So, Here we are, only a few baby steps beyond that moment... what do these innovations mean for us, the consumers. Well, one of the unfortunate consequences of producing these truly marvelous images is that they are data rich images. With the Advent of systems like DLSS our video games demand more powerful hardware... and even if we, or you individually CAN afford to update your hardware (I spent 2000$ USD this year which is legitimately crazy a little bit) There is a very important piece that you might just overlook...

Your modem.

You might have access to fiber optic "GIGABIT" internet and you might have the most insane NASA level Space X approved PC that money and human ingenuity is capable of bringing together... but if all of that power and information has to move through the equivalent of an itty bitty little bendy straw of a modem... well kid... you're doing it all wrong.

Go buy a good... modern... current generation modem and find out what poe looks like at 245 FPS in a T17 100% Delirious Infused nemesis double beyond elder necropolis and try not to shatter your jawbone when it hits the floor.

Also I had to update my drivers to january because november drivers was making PoE leak memory. Took me a good week to figure it out lmao.

anyone running stock isp modems is either an absolute boomer of boomers or should stop getting every MTX there is and instead invest those 100 bucks into a decent modem lmao

Nice... So what modem do you recommend? I have cox cable modem...other games work fine but I'm willing to try anything because I never had good ping...80+ ms... and lag.

What's your modem? I have a high performance overclocked water cooled PC from Falcon Northwest and lag like a mofo. This thread could save us thousands maybe. Not buying any new hardware until I try a new modem.

That is something interesting i didnt knew you could change the modem that your isp give.
