You were slain! Awesome! But by what, exactly?

Death happens. It's a game. Think we can all agree on this.

The problem is that when I am slain, I have no idea what caused it. There's no death report.

What I see: You were slain!

What I want to see: You were slain by 5k fire damage!

Why is this little bit of info important?

That little bit of information helps me fix my build, twink my gear and lets me be more effective. Instead I'm sitting back, frustrated that I've just lost 10% of my XP for no reason given. I'm clueless and a little hopeless, ticked off and still need to run back into an unknowing fray and then WHAM!

We do the time warp again. (Sadly a step to the right does not stop me from mysterious dying, I've tried.)

The stakes are upped for end game, losing 10% XP is quite the penalty and you can quickly go from almost level 72 back to only 1/4 of the way to 72 in the span of minutes. It's frustrating but only compounded by the fact that I have...

NO DAMN CLUE WHAT KILLED ME! (Yes, caps was important, cause I was screaming at my monitor and scared the hell out of my cats. Feel free to make crazy cat lady jokes, it's fine.)

For all that is holy or unholy can I please get a death report? Can I please get some info? That's all I want.

Sincerely,
Frustrated Me/Myself/I

Don't abandon us. don't turn your backs on the ones loving poe.
The client has this information to adjust your hp/mana/es totals. I don't think it's too much to ask for a MUD like output window.

So and so hit you for 23,000 fire damage, 1,200 physical, etc.

Edit: I'm not asking for a full combat log. You could just have a buffer of say the last 5-10 hits.

I'm not asking either, just saying "combat log would be nice!". Having a message in the chat window telling you what you died of would help quite a bit already too.

After I saw god mode herald influenced killed by Kosis with everything 90% and 14k ES, I know that the damage is too unrealistic.

Also, there are many instances that the normal mob can only do 300-500. But all of a sudden, a shooter (yes, it is always a shooter), that can instantly KO you. By that logic, the damage should be around 30k to 50k damage. Even with 90% phy reduction, all resist max, immune to critical, you are still instantly dead.

Which make me wonder if is a cheat or a bug, or even a trap skill that does 50% of your base HP.

Recently, I was killed for no reason with no mobs in sight (3 times in fact) when delving.

Then after testing, I found out that shocking ground does 5k damage to you or more if you are using RF. Yes, shocking ground manifold your RF damage by 500% instead of 50% and instantly killing you.

Mobs that shock don't do 5 to 50% damage based on the damage that is inflicted upon you. In fact, the calculation is based on applied shock +50% to 500% and applied damage.

The same calculations goes to ice projectiles. It is calculated for multiple damage first and this multiple damage aren't 300-500% of the normal damage but has a range of 300% to 5000% extra damage.

I can safety say that with the new cluster jewels, it is too easy to get 90% resist to test all the mechanics and you be shocked at how much damage these mobs can do.

Hope may yet exist for some kind of death recap, Here's a snip from another thread on the same topic.

Don't hold ur breath but also don't think you aren't being heard on the topic.

Kosis deals tons of chaos damage, so having 90% elemental resist is very little protection against him. Combined with the "damage gained as extra chaos" mods you typically see by Simulacrum wave 20, and a few damage boosting ailments like shock (which Kosis naturally inflicts himself) and scorch/brittle from the Simulacrum mods, and it's easy to see how someone without 50% or more chaos resist can get absolutely annihilated.
