I think that the Item Rarity Mod should be removed.
right now the only people who treasure hunt are multiboxing. clearing the path, coming in with someone who has 400%+ MF and then geting the killing blow with the MFer, while you have all your other clients loaded into the map..and this is completely legal to

GGG's design philosophy in three words: Quantity over Quality. |

There are multiple ways to play the game.
You can try to be highest level possible. This takes a lot of time and you invest your money in orbs for maps. You gain money back from selling high level items from maps. You can semi-casually play end game maps, and try to be efficient in it. You spend some money on maps and some on your gear to gradually boost it. You can casually play maps and try different specs and see how you can optimize your build just for the fun of it. You invest the little economy you have on minor gear upgrades and regret orbs(...) You can focus on getting rich, farming efficiently with MF or through killing very fast. You can focus on getting rich, by engaging in a lot of trades trying to get the best deals both ways. You can do low level PvP, focus on getting very specific items for this purpose. You can do races, you don't get rich or high level really, but it's a completely different game and you invest your time practicing for races, optimizing routes, checking what other racers are doing, and trying to win the races themselves. Or, alternatively, you can go fishing. -- Some of these can be easily integrated with another, such as farming for rares and uniques and doing a lot of trades for instance. Yes, the best way to get rich in the game might be that route. Removing IIQ and IIR would setup the highest level players to also be the richest. Introducing an auction house would create even more diversity in this. This is why you won't see neither of these introduced in a game that has different play styles as a foundation of gameplay. Just my 2c. | |
Always thought any form of "magic find" should never be in games like these. All it does is bring out multiboxing and botters.

" How exactly would removing the MF mods do anything to circumvent multiboxing and botting? The game itself brings them out, not the existence of MF mods. Regardless of MF mods, Multiboxing and botting will give you a major advantage, hence people will continue to do it. |

" Um, what? Correlation does not imply causation. |

So let me see if I have this thread worked out.
People that don't sacrifice dps for IIQ/IIR are qqing they don't get as many drops as the people with shit dps but have IIQ/IIR? So what you folks are saying is that the mechanic is working as intended than? |

" Bullshit. Most OP/Cookie-cutter builds can sacrifice nothng and still gets 100IIQ/200+IIR. Also drops are balanced towards higher MF values. Characters with no IIQ/IIR stacked have extremely shitty drops. Go kill Vall or Piety with 0/0 - youll see how fun is to get 6 blues from act boss. Current implementation with heavy emphasis on NF systems to get something is completely broken and is countering design philosophy of this game. Players that plays harder builds, players that experiments with build are penalized with drops and players who plays safe, cookie cutter build or fukin summoner and they can put MF in each slot are rewarded. MF should be removed altogether or heavily balanced. Removing from gear completely (leaving suports) will be first good steps. Atm its just as broken and mandatory like in D2 (make MF Sorrc... dont play normal content, do Mef runs ad nauseum - be rich with all this Shakos) /early D3 - stacking 400MF and gear swithing scripts). And even is something is working as intended it does not imply that is good mechanic. My personal plea to GGG - grow some blass and start balancing this mess. " By making IIQ/IIR stat both on gear and in game party bonus marginal and less abusable. It will not 'kill' multiboxing but it will make that ENORMOUS disparition difference beetween 'normal' play and multiboxing will be massively nerfed. Because here lies problem - MFing is too mandatatory, is too profitable. Bonuses are too high. Last edited by KarraKurri#7943 on Mar 21, 2013, 9:14:14 PM
