How "honest" do you feel the RNG in POE actually is?
Eh, I don't think about it too much. RNG be RNG. Proving anything related too it by feelings alone is pretty much impossible. Game feels good to me though, some leagues I have great luck and can get BiS gear at around level 90, some leagues worse and have to make do with less. Just the way of it, doesn't really ruin my experience either way.
Also, your feelings seem to be pretty much derived from random non-related cases. "The Lion dropped consistently, but The Porcupine did not". Seems like they are just cherry-picked from an (immense) amount of encounters with RNG just because they are perceived outliers. Comparing any random streaky RNG result with any random non-streaky RNG result doesn't really have any point. In the end though, I don't really care if it's fair or not. Hidden mechanics like RNG don't really call for fairness if them being unfair increases my enjoyment for the game. Last edited by Bardharr#3094 on Jan 25, 2020, 11:54:34 PM

i'll tell you what i feel about RNG:
yesterday someone on global said "ok, finished a day of playing, this is the loot i gathered today: 5ex, 127 chaos, 963 fusing". and i'm thinking "i dont make such loot in A MONTH". the RNG almost never love me. the only time he did, was vaaling enlighten to level 4. the only time the RNG surprised me. |

" Do you seriously think your level of play compares to that person? You have a single lvl 59 character in the League. That other player probably has multiple lvl 95+ and plays 12 hours a day. Of course you won't get nearly that much loot. Nothing to do with RNG, just a huge quantity and quality of play difference between you and that other player. |

I get that RNG is quite unintuitive, but the hot takes about it on this forum have never ceased to amaze me.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" 100%, because I understand the definition of "random." |

" don't judge my 59 lvl char on the league. i played meta league for 1(!) day and went back to standard. i play level 95 witch there (killed sirus level 6 yesterday, 28 watchstones collected). i gotta tell you - few months ago i sold item quantity support for 16ex. before selling it, i played with it for 3 days to see the outcome, and to know if i want to sell it or not. the quantity was better, noticeable. but of small things - way more transmutes, way more whetstones, some more 3 off colors... i didnt think its justifying me not selling for 16ex. |

There is no REAL RNG so expecting from it to be "honest" is just naivte.
It is as it is. Deal with it. Last edited by de99ial#0161 on Jan 26, 2020, 2:14:36 AM

" Aahahahahahaha!!! Are you serious? Blizzard keeps making money like crazy and GGG has followed the same RNG model for more than 7 years... And look, people keep playing, even you. Bethesda is known for having good ideas and terrible realization of them. GGG is a Bethesda subsidiary or what?

" The difference in a case like that is not just RNG. Consider the challenge that tracks how many map bosses you have killed. It is a good measure of the pace of play for a player. That person making that much is likely killing, and clearing 200 to 300 maps a day. Whereas someone who can't understand how someone makes that much is likely only running 5 to 10 maps a day. When the difference in pace is large enough you get comments like your's, where you just don't understand the source of the differences. Last edited by Qiox#1561 on Jan 26, 2020, 2:44:42 AM

There is no such thing as "honest RNG". RNG is RNG. Sometimes you are lucky, most of the times you wont.
WTF is with all those topics recently? Is "RNG is unfair!" new meta because "I've been scammed" doesnt get eough reaction? |
