respecing.
When you activate the Dark Altar
and all the black smoke comes out to spook you; Offer the player an irreversible option to reset all of their passives. If they go through confirmation to skip it, they cannot redo it. This way we'd get just 1 full reset at/near the end of each difficulty. Alternatively, add only a number of free respec points each time. Well I don't understand why people are so against respeccing. I figured if you dont want to respec just dont and let those who wants/needs to do so. Live and let live anyone? Why try to control what others can and can't do.
I know that the one thing that made me want to buy and try this game (I actually made a donation for early play...) was that huge skill tree. I just love to play around with it and test it again and again to try to find in practice what suits my playstyle the best. If there is no respeccing all that fun aspect of the game is just gone and sort of wasted. If I have no more fun I will most likely not start another character again (and again) but just move on to another game... It's not a treat but for some people like me it's what keeps us in the game. I'll probably try a few different classes but I wont restart the exact same class a second time just to build it differently. I know the game is free but my guess is that they still want people to keep on playing it. As it stands I choose PoE over D3. That skill tree was the clincher for me... Just let me play with it!! |

Oh! And I also please add a confirm button! Nothing worse then accidentally allocating points by mistake and not be able to take it back. Like I just did trying to see what the node was I just clicked it by mistake.

Im surprised they wont sell whole character respecs. Id happily pay for them.

This game is competitively ranked. Using respecs to overcome challenges or build deficiencies offers an advantage over players who don't want to use them. This is also why it's highly unlikely that respecs will be available in the cash shop.
There will be a confirmation of some sort added to the passive window, eventually. Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus.

" Why not have a league without a ladder then, and then enable respecs there? |

I think the devs just don't want a sandbox-type league. It doesn't fit into what they want the game to be, probably.

Is the games ladder going to wipe every so often, or is the default league permanent(once we hit open beta that is)? If it doesn't wipe then won't the competition basically end at a certain point?

Yo guys, you need to read this: http://www.sirlin.net/blog/2012/5/3/diablo-3s-ability-system.html
It's about Diablo 2 and 3 but makes valid points about respeccing. In the light of this, all suggestions here sound stupid. |

"The views in that article are extremely biased towards one style of play and the writer makes assumptions on how "everyone" thinks and behaves. The section on respecs has absolutely no relevance to PoE because there is already a system in place to fix poor choices. It's true that a bad choice in D2 could actually hurt your build. In PoE, a bad choice isn't game-breaking unless you do something very ignorant like mix incompatible keystones (which is the player's fault for not reading the descriptions, therefore choices actually matter). Even if you do this, you can still refund points to fix the build. Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus. First in the credits! Last edited by WhiteBoy#6717 on May 8, 2012, 8:42:42 AM
