Don't be a "ninja = kick" baby
" THIS. And again, what if you don't see the name because you were off screen? Ninja=kick enforced absolutely with no excuses or exceptions is too harsh. Fortunately not every game that says "ninja = kick" really means that, as I've experienced. BUT if you are the party leader, defend everyone's loot not just yours. Don't know how you can ignore that issue, those who are whining about my thread here. |

The loot system KILLS the social aspect of multiplayer.

" I like the loot system but am not stubborn enough to ignore the truth when i see it. Thing is, the social aspect doesnt have to be based around the loot system. If you think about it, you don't socialise much with random people as it is, in most games. Its not like you would enter a LFR in wow for example and come out the other side with 5new friends (exceptions apply ofcourse) Playing FFA loot with your friends can be kinda awesome btw :) It leads to a lot of banter on skype/ts/vent etc :D Just for try for see and for know -2013!

" Agreed. Its not really a big deal. When i play with friends its FFA all everything except items thats other might need. Much more fun that way. Some people would rather tippy toe around everything slowly. But hey, thas what private partys and like minded players are for. |

" I've been gaming since the Atari 2600 in the mid-70's. I play a lot of tabletop RPGs and there is no loot competition. There's no PvP competition of any kind. It's not the loss of loot I lament, it's the loss of cohesive teamwork. Everyone working to defeat the mobs first and share the loot second. It's not that I don't want to compete with my teammates for loot; I don't want to compete with them in any way. All for one and one for all, that sort of thing. PoE offers us a PvPvE environment ONLY. My hope is that GGG will at least consider a separate non-FFA/non-PvP league. Even if it's a private one. In a very grind heavy game the death penalty equates to...more grinding. Last edited by TheSwampDog#0343 on Mar 8, 2013, 9:37:05 AM

Sorry, but there's so many issues with the current system, that anyone who defends it is clearly one of the people who ignore mobs completely when a cool item drops and just stands around waiting for the loot timer to expire instead of playing the game.
The number of times I've clicked on an item, walked up to it, and not gotten it, only for a loot timer to expire and someone else to pick it up is amazing. It is entirely possible if people are standing around an item for you not to get it. The number of times I've been actually killing stuff as a witch when something like an Alch drops, and everyone stands in the middle of a group of mobs waiting for the timers to expire instead of killing said mobs is pretty amazing as well. The current loot system punishes you for not playing melee, and for actually playing the game. Instead of people worrying about killing stuff, they're more worried about the Orb of Augmentation on the ground. It slows down the actual grinding process unnecessarily. When groups are ninja=kick, it solves all these problems. I've never had an issue with people ninjaing items, and the few times I have in these groups, they get kicked and we get a new group member who isn't an ass. This isn't about being a baby. This is about playing the game you want to play it with other people who want to play it that way. People in groups like this are also generally much nicer, actually picking up items for you if you miss them and trading them back later. These are the types of people I want to play with, not the type that anyone fighting for the current loot system currently represent. The fact that loot is the primary concern instead of killing stuff in the middle of a battle should be a point of concern for everyone, as it takes away one of the main points of group play: cooperation. |

" Funny.. Im wondering if people who can`t kill and pick up loot at the same time have problems walking and chewing buble gum at the same time also. Hell, i wonder if they have problems multitasking in general. |

" This is an absolutely awful analogy. If I'm in the middle of a pack of skeletons who are threatening my life, why would I pause to pick up an Orb of Augmentation on the ground? I'm going to keep killing them until I'm safe and THEN worry about loot. That's the logical thing to do. Walking and chewing bubble gum is easy. Walking while picking up pennies while someone is trying to beat your face in is another thing altogether. |
