Unplayable Lag/Sync Issues
- I was playing for a few days without issue (level 33)
- Then on Sunday I started seeing issues in town, where I had game hangs moving anything in the inventory or talking to an NPC or accessing a waypoint, it would take 10-30 seconds. But it was fine once I got out of town & back into combat. - Then on Sunday Night, those 10-30 second lag spikes suddenly started happening in combat too, so im running around attacking things, then the game catched up in 10-30 seconds and I instantly die, ironically.. the lag in town issue is resolved ;-) - I live in Australia, most of my testing has been on the American Server, but I did just test the European Server, which was fractionally better (I killed 2 mobs before it hung and I insta-died). - I thought it might be an intermittent issue, but I checked a couple of times per day all this week, and I still cant play. I have a great net connection, stable and im still raiding in WoW US West Servers every 2nd night with perfect Latency, the issue is only in PoE. Any ideas, could be lag, routing or a sync issue? I'm experiencing the same problem since the new patch. The lag spikes raise my ping up to 1000, from my usual 100-120, completely freezing the game for several seconds.

Could I get you both to send me some MTR output? Preferably taken while you're experiencing problems in game.
You can download WinMTR from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/winmtr/files/ To use it just run the appropriate exe (32 bit or 64 bit), enter the hostname in the "Host" box, and click start. Once the "Sent" column shows at least 50 click "Copy Text to clipboard", and paste the results into an email to support@grindinggear.com (you can then just close WinMTR). - Edit I would like you to get output for the game server you are currently connnected to. To get the server's IP, go to the folder you installed PoE in and open the "logs" subfolder, then open the "Client.txt" file. The file will probably be quite large, but scroll to the bottom and find the last occurance of this line: 2012/03/27 10:33:25 3917590 50 [INFO Client 3768] Connecting to instance server at 127.0.0.1:12345 In this example the server is 127.0.0.1 (do NOT test with that IP though, it's just an example). Use the IP you find there in WinMTR in the "Host" box. - End edit Thanks if you're able to do this, if you have any problems with it let me know. Just emailed the results through, was interesting testing this during live gameplay on both American & European Servers, everything is good on WinMTR, but its still not possible to kill any monsters under that much latency.
Anyway good luck finding it, would love to continue beta testing. Last edited by adso555#3959 on Mar 24, 2012, 8:39:06 AM

Hi. I'm getting the exact same issue here.I've done the two MTR output test (basically glorified tacerts?) and emailed you the results.
Game works fine but every now and then I get a HUGE spike of at least 20seconds or so and I'm dead. Its not my internet as I'm able to play stuff like wow/diablo2/dota2 online without any real issues. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. I hope this gets resolved soon so I can enjoy this great game you guys have created to its fullest potential. |

is it always like this, i.e. lagged out, or can you actually play sometimes and level up?
For me, its not an intermittent thing, its a constant intense lag, I think I've killed 2 monsters in the last week of testing, I cant actually gain XP lol. |

Thank you all for sending output.
So far none of the output I've seen has indicated an apparent network problem. The login servers (that I got you to trace to) are in the same data centers as the game servers, but just to be sure it would be good if you could get output for the game server you are actually having problems on. I have edited my previous post (just above here) to explain how to get the game server's IP address, which can be used in WinMTR.
I have a similar problem as them, my latency just spikes like once every 1-2mins for like 3 secs. I've lost one hardcore char this way and been trying to figure out how to fix it but there seem to be no problems on my end. I took some screen shots of what it looks like. In most of the screen shots I'm just standing still and wait for the lag spike to screen it not action what so ever.

" Could you please get some WinMTR output (instructions above) during one of these spikes? Just start WinMTR and wait for a spike then copy the output after the spike finishes.
Alrighty, I believe I sent you all the information you asked for in your post above. Let me know if theres anything else I can do.
Edit. I wasn't running the game when I the IP test for the MTR let me know if I need to do it again. I was running it for the first test though. Last edited by Zalgotas#4129 on Mar 27, 2012, 6:36:56 PM
