Private league Suggestion

It doesn't really matter what those leagues contains if they are voided.

absolute and utter nonsense.
the game is about grind, the fact you think you can bypass the grind by paying is exactly the p2w argument

That ball is already rolling and there is no point in arguing that the ball might not be rolling if you look at it from a different angle.
you have no idea what youre talking about

the idea of making game easier and faster to complete when you pay for a private league, is exactly pay 2 win. moreover, the majority of players who only want to minimize the grind will then pay to win in such a way. just like players in d3 paid their way to GG items on a real money auction house

and I remembered, vio is the developer guy, not you. makes sense because you don't

ajo, arent you a developer ? or maybe Im confusing people

I find it weird you don't seem to understand the concept of 'private leagues cant ever be more rewarding than core game' from segmentation of business offering perspective.

GGG cant have it as a business model that a private league has more rewarding (ie, drops) item allocation than the core game

you would have a point if majority of people played poe for challenge and not drops, but it is really the other way around. especially nowadays.

people who pushed for ssf before and are pushing for more drops in private leagues - what they really want is for gratification to be even more instant.

now, from business perspective imagine you are offering a product that is completely free that takes x seconds to perform a task. one of the reasons its succesful is because its free to use.

then you introduce a paid mode in which your product does task x 10 times faster

do you get why this is a very, very bad idea ?

This is already the case in the tech industry , a lot of tools have an opensource version and an entreprise version with added positive value that you have to pay for.

What would be the problem for such a league ?

- You would be bored after a month, and would not really be able to go back and enjoy normal PoE ? ( = you would quit playing the game all together )
- Players would feel pushed to pay for those leagues instead of playing the normal ones and many ( if not most ) would be disgusted by it and PoE would just die ?
- Many would start bitching about how their characters get voided even though they knew it from the start ( it would happen ) ?
- GGG would have 0 chance to advertise themselves as makign a "f2p" game that will never be "p2w" ?

Just from the top of my head.

GGG are balancing the game according to particular numbers, multiply those numbers and you end up having something that GGG does not intend. What is the point of having chase uniques if you get them like they are nothing for example ?

Adding challenge through mods ? Sure, why not, maps already do that.
But just making it easier ? Hell no, and you know what the most ironic thing is ? Calimero in this thread saying that things are "unfair" are stash tabs, while asking for the possibility to get better droprates with real money ( even if in a different league ).

If adding positive mods to private league like this raise those concerns, for me this only exacerbate the difference btw GGG design and philosophy and what player wants/expects

Problem is, if you claim that voided private league with positive settings are ethically wrong, you are also claiming that negative setting are.

No.

Just because you say something does not just make it true.

In this sense, there is very little difference than for example renting chessboards to host a small custom rules chess tournament with your friends. Does that make chess unethical pay-to-win? Does it become less unethical if you limit the rules to only challenging once?

What the hell is this analogy now ???

Do you realize that it has nothing to do with the topic ? Do you realize that chess is a game that has been around for centuries and that has not evolved (afaik) ?

Why don't you start thinking that chess is an "unethical game" ( what the flying fuck seriously ... ) because buying a higher quality games helps you play faster than playing with pieces of paper if you don't want to pay anything and build one yourself ?

Do you have a point at all ?
If GGG were to catter to everything player expect, the game would have died a long time ago.
It's definitely on its way though, as GGG won't be able to sustain what they've been doing forever unless they do drastic, very drastic changes once in a while ( which seems pretty unlikely honestly ).

SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
