Gotta say, I am well and truly disappointed by this news.

Will Tencent try to change Path of Exile?
No. We spoke to CEOs of other companies that Tencent has invested in, and have been assured that Tencent has never tried to interfere with game design or operations outside of China. We retain full control of Path of Exile and will only make changes that we feel are best for the game. Will Path of Exile become Pay to Win? No. We will not make any changes to its monetisation on our international servers. Will Grinding Gear Games prioritise the Chinese version of Path of Exile? The Chinese version of Path of Exile currently has its releases a few weeks after the international version. We are working hard to reduce this gap so that they come out closer together (or even simultaneously), but are not planning to prioritise the Chinese version of Path of Exile ahead of the international version. We want to treat all of our customers equally without any of them being frustrated at missing features or delayed releases. ===================== Good, as long as you can do that, I'm pretty sure that PoE would be much better in future. As a chinese player, I've tried the chinese version of this game---it has some rediculous(sort of p2w) systems that make the game less hardcore---to some players in China it might be a good thing but not me.International version is much much better. You've done a great job GGG, just keep doing it, PoE>ALL! |

NO! GGG WHY?
You guys didn't need any investors! Bad Choice RIP " Path of Exile" |

That INDIE vibe just vanished. Where are my "donations" or "supporters" going now?
One of my biggest reasons for purchasing mtx and supporter packs was simply to support GGG. Now in the traditional sense, supporter packs aren't really needed... right? GGG now has a huge Chinese bank to help with their finances. GGG doesn't really need us little guys to fund their next projects... Right? Supporter Packs are for indie developers toiling for peanuts on a project of passion. Should we now refer to the old supporter packs as "League" or "Insert-Expansion-Name-Here" Packs? Please restructure your MTX store and packs with better pricing as many of us will now be thinking we're sending a % of our money to tencent vs GGG. We love GGG and want our money to go to GGG only. P.S. What kind of crossovers will we be seeing between LoL and PoE now? Similar to what Blizzards been doing? Just wondering... |

Unfortunately, like most people here, I see this as the beginning of the end for PoE. You can't be 80% foreign owned and stay independant, it's simply not going to happen. At best it's an enormous amount of naivety of GGG to think that this will be the case. It's sad really... I've been a supporter from the pre-release days and this was one of the very few games that went against the trend of lootboxes and pay to win. Let's see how long Tencent takes before stepping in and demanding changes to those things.
I also won't be purchasing any more supporter packs, as I did so previously to support GGG. I will not be supporting a Chinese multinational with my wallet. |

I am not reasurred. History tells us these kinds of things end with the company being run into the ground due to poor decisions coming from a publisher whose bottom line is earning as much money in as short a time as possible.
You should not have done this. I know is a silly and rebellious thing to say, but I'll wait and see what kind of things tencent pushes on GGG before spending any more money on this game. | |
Ohhh Nice Tencent
