it is rarer in availability, it is not rarer in terms of RNG production of how to obtain it

That's not a fair comparison, because you don't get a silver coin to spend from every enemy you kill. The chance that a monster drops a coin AND that coin gives the prophecy is what you need to weigh against the chance of finding a mirror.

This item is super valuable because Occultist is the most powerful Ascendancy in the game EXCEPT for her power is gated behind having super high end gear and gems. It's not like Champion where you can grab some generic items and go to town you have to be meticulous and get very expensive hard to find specific items and then she just blows the doors off of every other ascendancy if you do that.

It is extremely bizarre that there are people in here saying, in effect, that it is fine the way it is because otherwise "the market would be saturated" or "chase uniques wouldn't be chase".

Do you really, truly believe that there is no middle ground at all between 1-alch rarity and atziri's mirror rarity? If they made it skyforth rarity I would 100% be ok with that. That is plenty chase for 99.99% of the people that play the game, and if you save enough currency, you 100% can count on someone somewhere having this item available to buy. Saying that a niche item should literally only exist 3-5 ish times across all leagues for several weeks in a game consisting of hundreds of thousands of players is genuine insanity or downright trolling.

Depends on what the build is for. Occultist (curse focused) kinda sucks compared to other options against shaper/guardians/elder due to the less curse effect. She is amazing for mapping and other bossing though.

This beahvior and remarks like that regarding rarity being justifiable seem to stem from people who are not in actual need or planned around that item or aren't nearly enough attached to it as "important object for their build". To be fair someone who desperately wants this shield will be equally polarized but in sum i have, too, come to the conclusion that this is
a troll, downright retarded, obnoxious decision making, accidentally putting three zeroes too much into the data set that holds chance values, or really anything else that'd portray this in a drastic enough fashion to point out just how stupid it is and how infuriating it can be to a thinking playerbase to not just address this stuff (or at least give an official response, people are puzzled all over the place, and you know it!). It's not necessary and not cool to let this stuff sink for weeks or months, and i'm sure there are people who were stoked to play occultist with the new 3.2 buffs and changes whilst incorporating the new interesting new items that literally suggested themselves to synergize nicely.

Another recent source compares this kind of development with the grand spectrum changes, to quote,

and i would not be too surprised anymore given the apparent lack of responsiveness that this comparison might turn into an actual on-point prediction rather than a mere comparison.

I do apologize for being extremely frank and firsthand about what i make of this, but there was literally a reasonable safe band of options within which parameters could be tweaked justifiably and ggg put them somewhere around Jupiter's orbit instead.

I am also very displeased by this since I build around it. My first totem build and was actually looking forward to it. Now I am not only playing a clunky build (totems), but I am also gimped for having went this road instead of going for other builds from the start.

Hell, this is even the reason I didn't purchase any support packages this league or any MTX.

I am so upset about this whole thing that I don't even find motivation to login and play poe for the last 1 week. And that has never happened ever, regardless if the league was good or bad.
I simply know that I am not able to get it, I got HH and all other rares, I cannot get Atziri's reflection or the prophecy, since I would have to be retarded lucky (around 5-7 of em have been seen in bestiary league since start).
