Obviously the status quo was leading nowhere.
Probably because Palestanians were never serious about land nor statehood. They lost 78% of their land to Jordan s occupying Hussein family. The Husseins took it as a political bribe, and later murdered THOUSANDS of Palestanians. To this day the Husseins occupy that land, denying inhabitants their right to vote on the Hussein's presence. Palestanians never even talked about this. Never even threw a rock in Jordan's direction. They are ok with being oppressed by someone from the same religion. They dismiss it as "Inshallah (if alla wills it)." But, an "infidel" in their midst makes them insane. Jerusalem has always been the capital of isreal as far as america is concerned and they wanted the embassy in jerusalem for a long time now.

" NA that is not the problem, Palestinians and Jews were ok for Jerusalem to be both capital of Israel and of the futur palestinian state. What Trump did is make Jerusalem undivided meaning it will never be capital of Palestinian state. They still can have a country just not with Jerusalem as divided capital. Palestinian can still create their state if they forget about their claim on jerusalem and yes until now Palestine was never a country.
