65,000 Armor vs Shaper

Well, did Chimera for the first time and if anyone wants to see how guardian fights go when you have ridiculous amounts of armor here you go.

I can also probably answer any questions about armor in general. Just thought I might as well throw this video out there for people wondering how good armor is for endgame fights.

T16 Pit of the Chimera vs 60k Armor

And my second attempt at Shaper. It's the last 3 mins of a 29 min fight.

T17 Shaper Fight vs 63k Armor

It´s more about full block Aurora build than high armor but sure high armor helps vs physical hits.

I usually don't watch youtubes of games - how much flat PDR% did you have? Every x% of flat PDR you have grants you more than x% more effectiveness of Armour!

It's pretty easy to do the math here.

Chimera basic hits are 3k. With 65k armour you're going to have 68% damage reduction and get hit for 1k instead of 3k. So just make sure you can outheal however many hits per second you let through.

Hehe, interesting question! I have a default of 4% flat PDR% due to the Guardian Ascendancy, 8% due to Tukohama Pantheon as long as I stand still for 4 seconds, and an extra 16% from 4 Endurance Charges if I use Enduring Cry a couple of times.

So, if we assume an ideal situation, I have about 28% combined flat PDR on top of my armor. Ho, ho, ho.

A very slight correction. The map has 35% increased damage. So, Chimera does about 4,152.6 per hit. So, 61% reduction.

Though on the topic of reduction, if we are talking about total physical reduction and add the flat PDR% from adghar's question. 28% + 61% = 89% physical reduction. I am physically reduction capped against 4,156 physical damage with 4 endurance charges up. And take only around 400 damage as shown by the video. Just for anyone wondering why I barely take any damage.

Now just for fun let's assume people have the same flat PDF Reduction 28% that I have. We have roughly vs 4,156 damage hit from Chimera.

65,000 armor = 457 damage <-----(Me)
50,000 armor = 722 damage
40,000 armor = 954 damage <------(Average Juggernaut)
30,000 armor = 1250 damage
20,000 armor = 1642 damage <----(Normal Armor Build)
10,000 armor = 2186 damage
5,000 armor = 2546 damage <---(This is where most people are at if not lower)

No extra flat PDF Reduction with just Armor

65,000 armor = 1621 damage <-----(Me)
50,000 armor = 1886 damage
40,000 armor = 2117 damage <------(Average Juggernaut)
30,000 armor = 2413 damage
20,000 armor = 2805 damage <----(Normal Armor Build)
10,000 armor = 3350 damage
5,000 armor = 3709 damage <---(This is where most people are at if not lower)

So, the added value of phys reduction is extremely pronounced with higher armor values vs big hits as adghar mentioned earlier.

Also, have hard Lair of Hydra if ppl want to see the armor reduction vs rippy mods.

T16 Hydra (Vulnerability, 46% Increased Life, 376% Increased Critical, 44% Increased Crit Multi, 101% Increased Lightning)

Heeeeey can you tell me where the hell did you get that much armor? I can only get close to this as a juggernaut with brass dome.

Hydra converts 50% to Cold. Phoenix deals x% of Physical as Fire Damage (explosion is pure Fire). "Mostly"? Not by a long shot. Unmodified, Hydra deals 4x more Physical than Cold Damage with their Attacks, due to the player having 75% baseline Resists.

Guardian gets Armour based on Life reserved, build uses Shav's.
Evasion is converted to Armour; Grace alone grants 3458 Evasion Rating, helm w/ 809.
Intelligence grants Inc Evasion due to gloves.
Determination with 22% Increased Effect (61% More Armour).

Egg Aurora is key to this setup, as mentioned earlier in the thread. 1300 ES on Block is pretty good.

Vipermagi has it down, but just to elaborate.

The Guardian Ascendancy, Radiant Faith = 160% of reserved life as armor.

I reserve 97% of my life this using a lvl 8 Clarity and lvl 19 Determination.

1746 reserved life = 2,793.6 base armor. So, it's as if I'm already wearing a chest piece with that much armor, even though I'm using shav's.

Also, since I convert life into armor and shaper gloves converts int into armor. Any gear which increases maximum life, strength, or intelligence gives me extra armor.

I also have significant %increased to armor from my skill tree, because many ES nodes coincidentally have armor% as well, including a few %armor I get from ascendency nodes from the guardian.

The aura breakdown when including the gear is:

29381 armor from lvl 19 Grace with lvl 2 empower with +1 socket gem.
35153 armor from lvl 19 Determination

If I had instead a lvl 20 Grace, Empower lvl 4 (instead of lvl 2), and Determination lvl 20

I'd have instead a total of 70907 armor with all my skill gems fully lvl'd up.

If I switched up my helmet and instead used the Formless Inferno. You can pretty much reach 100,000 armor by stacking enough extra fire resistance, which is in turn converted into global armor. So, pretty much on the highest spectrum of armor possible on a current league build.

Though personally, I wouldn't recommend stacking even that much armor. Not really that much difference once you get to even more ridiculous levels due to diminishing returns.

Interesting that mino's slam and burrow attacks are listed at not converting 30% to lightning, unlike his normal attacks and the sweep.

Also, do the falling rocks from a slam deal the same damage as the slam itself?
