I dispute this. Every time they ask for a “pittance” it makes me poorer, but because I work 50+ hours a week I always make just barely enough to qualify for nothing. That is wage slavery.

Do you buy insurance, Pants?

'Welfare' - proper welfare, not Republican Phantom Socialist Demon-Welfare - is nothing more than a country-wide insurance system run for the purpose of helping people, not for profit. Every single person that opts out of an insurance schema - everyone that doesn't kick their pittance into the Shit Happens pool - makes it more expensive for everyone else. Everyone who doesn't do their bit forces everyone who does to make up the deficit. This, by the way, is what Obamacare was trying to do - get everyone to stop opting out of supporting the country's health care systems while trying to preserve as much freedom of choice as possible.

"I decline to pay" is not an option, unless you want to be left bleeding in the dirt on a the side of the road when you have an accident, or unless you're willing to forfeit any and all support whatsoever should you otherwise fall into hard times. You want to impose a Shit Happens Death Sentence on yourself and your family? I suppose that's your choice to make - except that whenever you make it, you're also imposing it on me as well, and anyone else who might eventually need that Shit Happens pool you want to abolish.

How hard is it for you to understand that social safety nets are only a good idea when our politicians aren’t corrupt. Are you disputing corruption on one side but not the other? That’s what it looks like. Brainwashed spoon-fed horse shit. Baseline survival wellfare is a fine idea, but only when a) administration is efficient and responsible and b) people aren’t rewarded for fucking up.

Corporations - and this includes private for-profit insurance corporations, which are blights upon society by the way - are inherently corrupt. They cannot not be corrupt, because the profit motive is at odds with any and all codes of moral and ethical behavior. It is in a corporation's best interest to be the most corrupt, dickbaggish band of blatant thieves it can find a way to get away with being. Just look at Facebook for a picture-perfect recent example.

Governments are not inherently corrupt. It is frighteningly easy for them to become corrupt, but a government does not have a profit motive that inherently rewards and encourages corruption. A government has the motive of carrying out its mandate to govern. Politicians become corrupt when businessmen pay them to be corrupt. Businessmen become corrupt when they become businessmen.

If you're fine with for-profit insurance companies but hate welfare? You very much need to turn your priorities around, because one of those two entities has a very strong vested interest in fucking you as hard as it can, and the other has a legal mandate to try and help if it can.

Now, efficiency can be argued, and often is. People making this argument often say "My local church can get way more use out of the same dollar than the stupid government can!" And perhaps they're right - but you shouldn't have to be a Christian to avoid bloody fuck DYING when Shit Happens, should you?

Let’s not forget the worst and most offensive bastardization of wellfare, the corporate variety. Where we dump billions into a bonfire of an industry in hopes that all that tax money will suffocate the fire. We do it for the children, right? What about all those innocent employees who didn’t tank their industry? Won’t somebody please think of their children!? Fuck off, I’ve got one of my own, and every bank you bail out is another college degree she can’t get.

If a corporate entity requires a governmental bailout to avoid a market collapse, a'la the bank thing? The 'bailout' should come with a mandatory requirement that said corporate entity is to be dismantled, in a controlled fashion that prevents market collapse. No one single entity should ever be so huge, so indispensable to the world's financial systems, that its collapse would take the entire rest of the world with it. That is a time for antitrust laws and the forced, controlled break-up of a corporation grown too big and corrupt for its own britches - but ain't nobody gonna do that over here because people are so SKEEERED of the Liberal Apocalypse that they'll just keep on letting poisonous bullshit like the AT&T/Time Warner deal, or seven banknillion dollar corporate bailouts, just keep on happening because somehow they've got it in their heads that the vicious poisonous businessmen who're out to empty your wallet and then repossess everything you own so you can die in the street while they enjoy the fruits of their 'sales efforts' are the mother fucking good guys.

You get idiots like Khoranth putting a Democratic Conspiracy Plot out there to turn the country into Shadowrun, when people forget that the slavelords in Shadowrun aren't socialist super-governments, it's the bloody fucking Big Corp sector.

You want your daughter to go to college? Get her education, have a free and independent life? Well, then somebody better make sure there's still free and independent lives out there to live, and somebody better make sure her father can still find a way to provide for her should he lose his overtime job to Corporate Downsizing he can do nothing about, gets no warning over, and can't fight back against, ne?

Why not just run your insurance as a nationwide non-profit company, outside of government? I mean, you are aware that there are insurance products people buy voluntarily on the free market WITHOUT needing to force anyone who doesn't want to buy to buy... aren't you?

Do you think everyone who drives should be forced by law to buy full coverage auto insurance from Progressive, or do you think everyone who drives should be forced by law to buy full coverage auto insurance from State Farm?

I've been homeless before. No money and no savings for years. It's not a death sentence to go without a smart phone for a few months. You eat, you sleep, you get bus tickets to look for work. If you're worth your salt, you come to Jesus (metaphorically, if you're an atheist), get a job, rebuild your life, and vote Republican from then onward.

By the way, vast majority of homeless people, 80-95%, had Shit Happen because they brought it on themselves (myself included). In most of these shelters - of which I rotated among several - I could find one or two sad stories I genuinely believed, but for the most part innocent homeless are roughly as (un)common as innocent prison inmates. The screen adaptation of the Shawshank Redemption isn't too far off regarding the safety in assuming such people are guilty.

The only functional difference between a for-profit corporation and a government is that the government generally forces people to be shareholders. You're seriously deluded if you think profit motive is something you can eliminate from human nature.

AT&T is buying Time-Warner... a deal we will not approve in my administration, because it's too much concentration of power in the hands of too few. Likewise Amazon, which through its ownership controls the Washington Post, should be paying massive taxes, but it's not. It's a very unfair playing field... you see what's happening to department stores all over the country.

The [Trump] DOJ sued last year [2017] to block the merger, citing concerns that AT&T, owner of satellite television provider DirecTV, could charge rival distributors more for Time Warner content, resulting in higher prices for consumers...

In a nearly 200-page decision, [Judge] Leon said that he ultimately concluded that the government failed to meet its burden to establish that the deal was likely to lessen competition substantially.
So... Trump was on record against this merger, and his Department of Justice fought it in court. What did your Democrats do?

They're not "my" democrats and you know it. I'm long on record as thinking both parties are full of shit and need a good flushing.

My argument is against this utterly ridiculous notion that only ever seems to come up from knee-jerk reactionary rightists that Everyone Is Out To Rob Them Blind. "The government's after my munney! The liberals're after my munney! The Mexicans are after my munney! Everyone's after my munney! It's MY munney, I wanna keep it! I got kids to feed, feed yer own damn kids!"

I'm not after your munney. The government is not after your munney. The liberals are not after your munney. The Mexicans are not after your munney. Nobody is after your munney. Nobody is after your freedom. Nobody is trying to make you into a corporate wageslave except for the corporations. Nobody wants any of that.

The only thing anyone wants is for everyone to pull together, pay a very small percentage of what they make into a communal help pool for those unfortunate souls to whom Shit Happens, and then you can keep the rest of your godforsaken precious munney for whatever you like. Want another 70" plasma screen, go for it. Looking for a third house, have at it. Want some hookers to go along with the blow, be my guest.

Pay your club membership first. Unless you want the club grounds to decay into ruin so you don't have a club anymore, some maintenance fees are required - and the rest of us don't want that to happen so yes, your membership fees are compulsory.

Don't like it? Move out. I'm certain there's a third-world shithole somewhere that won't charge you a single red cent of taxation to squat there. You'll have to defend it with righteous violence and you'll also have to become a completely self-sufficient subsistence farmer (proficient in righteous violence), but you will, in fact, get to Keep Your Munney.

Better buy a lot of bullets with it. You'll need them.
Who said anything about becomeing a lawless shithole? We didnt even have income taxes until last 90 years and hardly 3rd world. Only top 1% paid any until WW2. We built from zero to #1 without income taxes at all. It was done with private property rights and protection of them giving americans stake in success which most 3rd world shitholes dont have. Ones that copied our former past are enormously successful like the asian tigers. We are going the opposite direction. Property is rented from state and can be seized. Income is seized. We went from biggest creditor nation to biggest debtor and I think living on freedom legacy which will be short lived. Socialism only works in limited time frame while capitalism is enduring.

The people want free shit from HC to housing to food - thats human nature - path of least resistance but totally unsustainable.

I like Mexicans - Go to Mexico and ask for section 8 housing - let me know if they stop laughing before or after you get back home.

I hope they become a majority then this white man burden/jesus complex/marxism will end. White people invented socialism and it's proved disastrous everyplace its tried.

Same goes for EU - I hope the white socialist natives are replaced by non-socialists moving there from North Africa and ME.

What is interesting is I specifically argued that the Democrats are not out to "rob people blind" but are actually attempting to force people to work. Welfare is just a short term part of the long term plan.

Why do you quote me, and argue stuff I didnt say or argue? Quote the people who said what you want to argue against.

Of course I'm kidding about both. The MSM spin on AT&Timewarner has been that Trump only cares about blocking the merger because Time-Warner owns the Very Fake News Network.

Only Nixon could go to China - Only Trump can go to NK.

Takes Republicans to be real peace makers.

Hopefully Trump get his earned peace prize unlike Obama who got it for nothing.
