Mathil's death in the Lab

This is exactly why reflect is such a terrible mechanic. If you want to make a powerful life based character, a sweet spot between offense and defense is impossible. Dying to offscreen is the cheapest mechanic ever.

And with ES Vaal Pact builds gone, reflect will ruin 3.0

Bugger off and grow a pair, you saw someone who normally doesn't play HC rip by doing something he perhaps shouldn't have, i'd pull see what's what and logg if stuff hit the fan.

And clearly it was not off-screen, the dude knew perfectly well that he's got an rng wheel sitting in that corner, and instead of checking it out, he took a shot.

I haven't died to reflect in...i don't even remember how long.

You are moaning about a 2 week event that can create situations you will never come across on regular leagues, and your conclusion is by 1. ES nerf that is not final, nor can anyone know exactly how it will work till 3.0 goes live, and 2. you are took an example from a single streamer who has never really bothered with HC.

Reflect sucks. Reflect as map mod? Ok, we get a warning. Reflect on a mob? Who the frack mouses over to see this on every single mob? Reflect on mobs are retarded.

Is that a joke? it's not a random mob, it's a unique invasion boss from a bygone league that reflects 100% of both phys and ele dmg.
No rest for the wicked.

that mob is fine.

for SC. There's this spiky aura thingy that signals when reflect is on.

Now for HC, prepare your anus

This is why reflect should be reworked. Dying from reflect off-screen is just unfair and unfun. I already made a suggestion for a rework a while ago:

Then so is killing things offscreen. Go ahead and limit projectiles to a .5-screen radius. Problem solved!
Here lies a toppled god;
his fall was not a small one.
We did but build his pedestal -
a narrow and a tall one.

That's what I was thinking. He didn't have to blindly fire, but he wanted to off-screen the mobs. Turnabout is fair play.

reflect is a lazy mechanic to artificially add difficulty
If you actually manage to kill yourself to a reflect rare, at least consistently enough to make you need to complain about it, your build(s) are shit. That's not me being a dick, at least not entirely. That's just a fact. It's a mechanic of the game that you can't deal with, and because you can't deal with it you need to complain about it until it gets changed. This shit has happened in the past with reflect as an aura, and is happening with volatile rares now. Just because a mechanic is designed to slow you down a bit doesn't make it lazy. It makes you lazy for not bothering to deal with them.

Reflect as a map mod is perfectly fine, you're literally warned about it and have the option to re-roll past it. And it's actually pretty fun to run reflect maps every now and then for the challenge.

The invasion boss Mathil died to is fine as well, though I play soft-core so that may cloud my perspective a little bit. You can visually tell if it's reflecting damage, so the only way to die to it is being careless. He off-screened the pack of invasion bosses, knowing well that they were there, and that one of them has the ability to reflect damage.
Mayhem race really shouldn't be used to observe the game's balance. A lot of players have died in that room for various reasons, it didn't have to be reflect.
Reflect is just a shit mechanic in any game imo. It's not even that it's that bad - I've only found one skill that I truly can't handle reflect with (storm call). It's mostly that it just feels bad to die to it. There are plenty of deaths in the game that feel deserved - I stand under Izaro, I get swarmed in a breach, etc. But even when I die to reflect because of laziness, inattention, whatever it is, I never feel like I made a mistake (even if I did).

People say it combats uber clear speed. Yeah, it does. But it's fucking annoying and I really wish they could come up with a better way to limit clear speed other than reflect. *cough*LESS PLAYER DAMAGE*cough*
