What's shocking to me is that nobody cares. Nobody holds the CIA accountable.

Exactly how I feel about it. Where are the bigmouth liberals that used to go crazy about gov't overreach? Where are the libertarians? No one has anything to say? I think (and I've said this before) they need to have a major purge of CIA/NSA and not just because of this.

Having said all that there is nothing that I've seen so far (though they say this is just a small amt. that has been released) that comes as news.

So, wait.. CIA is allocating resources to fight an ideological opinion war against.. who exactly?, american citizens? Is CIA a political tool now (Gestapo/KGB level stuff), or do they just plan to fight ISIS and North Korea with memes?

Of course if pressed they'll say that foreign actors visit the Internet and make memes, giving them justification. But that's how the CIA has rolled for decades: make up some bullshit about how foreign nationals are involved in domestic affairs, then control domestic affairs.

How is this not being talked about by every single new outlet non-stop?

Well, my news proclivities are not exactly "mainstream", but from the outlets I frequent:

- Slate ran a few stories on it
- Vox ran a story on it
- New Republic had it in its "minutes" section, but generally moves fairly slowly, so I'd bet there's a feature coming
- New York Times ran the story
- Washington Post ran the story
- The Atlantic has yet to run a story on it
- The Guardian ran the story

So one out of seven (two out of eight if you count Cracked as "news") didn't have the story right on day one.

I hope they are not too much shy when they look at me. My porn face probably made few of those CIA agent embarassed.

Of those, three are international newspapers with extremely good reputations, three publish well-researched and well-thought-out think pieces and have great reporting, and one is Slate.
